I was watching a re-run of fifth gear where they showed Jay Kay's cars (lead singer of Jamiroquai ). very nice!! but out of reach for most people. that got me to compile a list of the best (desirable) cars that are within my reach.

1. Lancia Integrale
2.skyline GTR (Gen 5)
3.BMW 2002
4.Lotus 7 (S3)
5.VW Kharmann Ghia
6. Volvo P1800
7. Shelby Cobra Replica
8. BMW M3 (E30)
9.AC cobra Replica
10. Ford Mustang

What's on your affordable list?

Must be nice. I have a 15-year-old Miata that gets me to work and back, and a half-built Locost I can't really afford.

Charles, I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford your list as well but your thread title doesn't match up to the cars on your list.

I think there's a number of luxury cars that can be stripped down to a basic performance vehicle and many of them are cheap and well cared for, Lexus, BMW etc.

Affordable is different for different people. My top 10 close-to-affordable car list (in no particular order):

1. Lotus Europa
2. Lotus 7 (My Locost is close enough)
3. MGA 1500 coupe (with upgraded drive train and AirCond this time)
4. Mini Moke
5. ’73 Pinto ( my first new car)
6. Isetta
7. Mercedes SL (any year. Just to have one).
8. ’67 GTO
9. Meyers Manx
10. Jag XKE SII (not affordable but we are dreaming)

I've had the VW Ghia, would love a P1800ES and don't care for any of the Cobras except the early 289 version. I might add a British (Austin) taxi just for laughs.

But that is only one person's opinion's.

While I'm daydreaming of my locost project, might as well join in!

Also a slightly lower priced list

1.locost with rover v8
2.locost with 20v 4age
3.TD5 Discovery, (rover v8 one owned)
4.Triumph TR5
5.MGB with 3.5 rover v8
6.2nd Gen RX-7 with NA 20b
7.AE86 Levin Coupe
8.AE86 Levin Hatch
9.2JZ powered Cressida
10. Skyline GTS R33

That's about it, well......maybe an IS300 since its basically an updated Cressida. With a 2JZ. Lol
