I have some kind of a problem with the gear shift in the transmission. It seems not to go perfectly in gears.

When in 1st I hear some "clunk" sound from the clutch area or maybe from the transmission.

Note: The transmission was just fine when building the car and testing 1st and 2nd gear in the garage but is was not on the floor, the wheels where free.

But after installing gear shifter and cabel gear to the gear lever/axle, it seems the transmission does not go perfectly in gears. It shows 1st 2nd etc on the GiPro (gear Indicator) but this very annoying and not so good sound comes.
- I did remove the clutch cover and all the discs are fine, all seem to be in perfect order inside the clutch.

Is it nesserary to adjust the cable gear exactly?

Or does anyone have a good advice for me?

Thanks

Ask a mechanic from your local import motorcycle shop to stop by and take a look or bring it to the shop for demonstration.

Search for those using the hyabusa driveline and PM them directly.

Is the cable/gear change mechanism binding by any chance?

There should be very little friction.

Yes I will recheck the binding, but the question is, if the cable can cause the gearbox to go in between gears?

From my experience yes. If you have a binding shifter, it can cause the shift arm to not return to center and the shift forks will either not fully engage the gear or they will try to partially engage two gears. Keep in mind the bike shifter linkage is pretty small so the springs in the transmission do not have to create a lot of force to return it to center.

Best case: It will not engage the gear and you fix it after it does it one or two times.

Worst case: You destroy one set of dog teeth since they are not fully engaging (it will want to pop out of this gears), you engage two gears at once and the transmission locks, and/or you bend shift forks.

If the cable isn't binding I would drop the pan and have a good look at the shift forks to see if they are bent and the dog teeth to see if they are excessively worn.

Would you mind posting some pictures of your set up or maybe even a video?

Nearly all big bike dog boxes will "clunk" when selecting first, you may have a problem but possible you're not familiar with a big bike gearbox?

Well my friends, thanks for all your replays.

I found our what the problem was. The car was lifted up from the floor and when free-wheeling it made a very unpleasant sounds (for motorhead as myself), I did remove the clutch and it was fine. But when the wheels are on load, i.e. on the ground it was fine.

And my first test run ever on my project was amazing! It is so light and FAST. :D :D

Yes nearly every bike made will clunk when going into 1st(Harley trannies sound like trash going into and out of every gear however:),if you have a driveshaft you lost the cush drive thats in the rear hub to soften the shock. The trick is to not be gentle with it,make a quick and intentional movement to engage the gear.Going slow/being gentle results in even more noise/grinding etc.
