Where can I find information on making body plugs for molds? I need to build one.

There is quite a lot of videos on youtube.... perhaps some books about mold making. So much will be trial and error. I'm more than happy to guide you around some pot holes I run into.

I have to say, I had never truly built a plug and mold before I started this one. Ironically when I started the project I kinda knew building the plug etc would be the half way point. Essentially that's correct, but I think the body part is by far more energy sapping as it's doing the same thing time after time... sand, paint, sand, paint.... sand polish etc etc. Honestly I could of spent another 100 hours making it perfect.... but I just didn't have it in me to keep striving for perfection.

Don't get me wrong, it still looks good, but the rear deck lid mold took a hammering when I have a failed part get stuck in the mold. I did some repairs, but there is a bit of body work to do prior to painting.

You nailed it.... like the good old days of Ferrari when they were actually winning lol.
The pipe sort of look goofy without the body, but when it's all in place it looks very purposeful!
I wanted to do that from the very beginning of the project.

The laser cut wing plates look very professional and I would like to do something similar on one of my racecars.
Who did this for you, and what was the process? Did you draw full scale templates for the laser cutters, or did you give them parameters and let them handle it?

I have really enjoyed following your build and have learned a lot in the process. Thanks.

Hi Jack,
Actually I just drew them in AutoCAD and emailed the DXF file to the Laser Cutter.
Not sure where you live, but I'm here in PDX and there are several Laser Cutters around. You could also have it Water Jet cut too.
The cost for material and cutting was $239.00. They knocked it out in a week.

When drawing in Cad, you draw it full scale, and sent the file. Their machine is set up to follow the path of the lines. I'm sure they load the file into the machine software which dictates the laser path.

Body on and fitted but my painter screwed up as the shade of silver is different than the center section. I see a respray in his future.
Just need to mount the wing and its testing time

Pretty much completed. Just need to running the safety belts and make the bead seat and bolt in the forward roll hoop braces then it's test time
