hi
I would like to have a drawing of a chain-driven differential or a 3d model of one.
is there anyone who could help me with that?
I am working on drawing on a small car powered by a hayabusa engine.

thewelder, that's very interesting. Care to share details? I see by the zerk (sp?) that there's moving parts in there so I presume it's differentiating rather than solid...but then again there's the one brake disc and unless you have sprague (sp again) clutches in there I'd think you'd need two brakes. Please show us more (unless it's proprietary).

It's very likely a Quaife-style LSD. One brake disc can indeed work by cross-feeding over to the other axle through the diff.

Sorry I haven't posted the chain diff pics but I've been very busy.

Here it is. It came out of a FSAE car.

Mine came out of my Amod/old FSAE car. It looks just like carguy123 on the inside. I have run the car two years without any trouble. I am rebuilding it now with more power. Chad

some years back i did the same type of diff with only one brake disc on a car that scaled in at 1300 LBS .
it was ok (just ok ) on the street but when i took the car to the track it was no were good enough .
now we build all our braking systems with twin masters , bias ajusters and 4 wheel disc's .some of the car we will do inboard disc's on the rears but there is good and bad about doing them .

when it comes to the diff housing (cover ) they are ez to build .
you just get a piece of 18 guage sheet metal cut to size and put it on a slip roller and roll it to the round size you need to slide over the diff . cut a end cap for it with a hole the size of the housing were the half shaft to slide thru . weld a bung for the grease fitting to screw into . slide the housing you built over the diff housing and fill it with grease not diff fluid .
we tend to only use winters performance mini wedge lock diff's most of the time . they are very light weight and strong as hell . we will also use miata diff's but they are more weight the god about them is cost . they are very cheap in cost and you can buy them just about any were . this is also why we will use there rear up rights and much or the rest of the miata rear suspension parts also .
