Hi All, I started a BEC build a little while ago and thought I might share it on here. I'll just keep it to photos rear upright   diff  chassis  wheels and tyres  bit of mock up  seat mock up  wishbone mock up   dash  front guards  dry sumping engine  front wing  more mocking up  gear paddle shift  bell hats needed for front  rear bulkhead  engine in situ

1 did you make the rear uprights? 2 can you make more? 3 what are you doing about your axles? Custom? I'm not very familiar with bec but I'm almost done with a car engine build and don't wanna stop at 1 |

hi johnny to answer your questions. i had the upright made for me, technically I can make more but it is an untested design as yet and I wouldn't want to get involved in the ramifications of selling any. but feel free to copy the design intent. axles will be custom |

Very nice! But, a picture spawns a thousand questions. 1. Is the rear bulkhead made up of some sort of composite ? 2. Making more than one? |

Hi Vroom, the rear bulkhead is 2 10mm 6061 alloy panels glued together with a very high strength epoxy. We are experimenting with that as it saves many hours on the mill taking the pockets out of a 1 piece 20mm bulkhead. It will have 21 bolts through it so I am not worried about a failure should the glue fail. Time will tell if that was a good idea. I am building 3 of them as a team we intend to go and have some fun together sprinting |

Plenty of glued together honeycomb out there, sounds just fine and, of course a great way to save bucks. |

more stuff front top wishbone  doing so placement visualisation mocking up what will be a alloy honeycomb driving cockpit in wood    wishbone jig  bearings will be staked in

One comment. I am using the exact same pedal setup. I had mine mounted to the front similar to you. While doing my first bleed job I noticed it lifted off the floor. Eventual built a steel plate on the floor with Nuts welded in and bolted it to the floor. Made the entire assembly much stiffer. Just a suggestion.. |

Good looking build.... Question, how are you adjusting your wheel camber with out changing your wheel base. Would it not been a better idea to use a rod end on both legs of the top wish bone? Keep it up... looks great Cheers Linz |

Hi Craig, one point to think about with your steering shaft, are you wanting to left foot brake? I have had issues in the past with trying to slide my foot under the steering shaft to get to the brake pedal... can you lift up the shaft so it does not impede your left foot? Cheers Linz |

First time I have noticed this thread. Nice bits of fabrication. I am curious, however, you are calling this a race car but there doesn't seem to be any form of front roll-over protection. A nice, stout rear structure but nothing in the front. Is this not typical in your location? Marty |
