This my car. The top and bottom tubes are 50x1.6mm while the other tubes are 38x1.6mm.
All the suspension, Brakes and geomerty is based on a RX7 s6 1998. Im planning on using a GSXR1000 motor with a RX7 diff converted to chain drive.
The chassis is 550mm in hieght plus 110mm ground clearance. The wheelbase is 2320mm. The top tubes are rolled to a 2300mm radius.

interesting, mid engine? thats the most angularity i've seen yet (for round tube) on the "b pillar" lowermost joint. i may be visually drawn to it more due to the larger tube diameter. with the demands of trying to fit that many angles in such a confined space i can see why after looking at the rearmost lower frame tubes.

your method of suspension mounting is pretty interesting, very direct and to the point. "i need a pipe here and i have a welder", i like it.
i don't think that you'll find the need to run such an economy focused tire, these tend to do pretty well
any plans for body work or do you plan to run nekkid?

:lurking:

That looks pretty nice.

I like the flat floor, and relatively normal shape you have achieved while keeping the arched upper tube.

With those MDF wheels and the low height and tapered shape it really looks like a huge soapbox derby car, which is cool!

Keep up the good work

Thanks for the coments. The STD front RX7 crossmember will have the rear half cut off and tided up. I'm going to run motor bike shock placed inboard. As for the placment of the tubes. I modeled this chassis up in "Solidworks" and the tubes positions had to look good. Straight was boring. Angles are cool. For the body panels I'm going to use "Lucoboard" It's a 3mm plastic sandwiched between 0.5mm Aluminum. Strong but light. The panels will fit inbetween the tubes so the chassis will be seen from both sides.

Paigeo, I can't find lucoboard here in the States. Sounds interesting. Anyone know of this stuff in the US? Paigeo great looking car. Where are you? Russ

Trade name is ACM (Aluminum Composite Material)

Here are a couple links

Some of the larger sign shops may carry sheets.

Had to do a quick search myself; 93-95 RX-7's had double A arm suspension in the front. Previous years had struts.

The FD suspension pieces are very nice, just make sure that all the monoballs are in good shape.

Hmm, maybe a good alternative subframe than the miata?

Did you try and get the angles at which the arms sit wth the car at rest, or just throw them on?

Another good subframe would be the NC Miata. The suspension arms are alloy and mount to a bolt in front subframe if I saw pics of an Ausie build correctly.

The suspension arms are set to the identical geometry (measurments) as a factory RX7. Same angles and track width etc

The dash bar has been fitted along with the steering rack and column(mounts still to made). The shocks i'm using are from a GSXR600k4 bike.
