Well I went to the swap meet hoping to pick up some cheap clamps for holding the frame together for welding and maybe some tools. Turns out there was a welder and I managed to talk him down to $50. He was very honest and told me that the feeder needed a new wheel, and the previous owned had been using aluminum foil in its place.

The welder is an Astro Pneumatic 110 AMP/115 Volt Portable Mig Welder it is a little underpowered at 110 Watts but worth the $50 risk as I had not seen anything suitable on craigslist and nearly spent $600 a couple of day earlier for a new one with 140 Watts

Here is an image showing the wire feeder. Basically all the plastic has become brittle and it just fell apart as soon as I touched it

I tried to add a black hair bobble to add tension you can see it on the screw if you look closely. However because the front bracket is cracked the motor is not secure so it will not get a good grip to feed the wire and a quick bodge is not going to work.

The motor works for the feeder is working correctly, any idea how difficult it is going to be to get a new plastic bracket. It is not the most common welder so I have not found anything online yet. Are the parts generic, could I just buy a new motor from another welder and fit it in this one?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I found the part in Ebay it is for a different model but it looks the same. It cost me $60 though so more then the price of the welder itself oh will if it works it will be a welder for $110

Some place like http://weldingdirect.com might be able to help you -- at least tell you what parts this shares with brands like Miller, which your local welding store might carry.
