I'll be brief. This is the third time writing this. (fourth If you include my build log.) Suffice to say, Windows 8 is terrible. Almost makes me want a Mac, (but my wife's iphone is more terrible).

So,... got a toolbox off an old Ford cabover fuel truck for free, and did this to it:

first I sectioned it, (it was rectangular, with lid on top. I wanted it slanted, on front, for viewing work inside):

Then apart:

Then started the angle, which was literally, where I welded the top @ back, and hinged to bottom, where corners hit the ground. (no measuring. I found out later, it was 1/2" lower on left!)

then I cut off the excess:

then did an extremely quick search, and found gloves with cuff sizes in 5" 8" and up from there. decided I had 5" exhaust tubing on hand, (semi truck stacks):

Then welded the front panel on, (1/2" lower on left!):

Then the triangular filler panels:

I was kinda proud of these welds. The material was thin, and the box off the fuel truck held oily rags, grease fittings, and god knows how much diesel saturated ish. So it was less than clean. Ok, excuses excuses,.... but if I cleaned up the burn marks with a wire wheel.....ok, here it is:

so, after a week of working on this, on my lunch breaks, and maybe 15min or so after work, the whole time, the lid stayed open on its own....... guess when it didn't :x

The point of all this is, the cheapest cabinet is $119, for the HF one. With the side opening door, which I didn't like.

So, including the sandblast kit, for $9.99 @ Home Depot. I have...........$9.99 into it!

Heres the only welds I did with the Hobart, @ my garage. I welded legs from an old 1.5" square sign that was laying around.

next projects are a bending brake, (half way done) and a welding mask, (I know, really? making your own welding mask? .. I have issues with spending money!).

hell, I might finish the mask tonight?...
