Have seen something similar done by guys building wooden boats (which usually get built upside down). A good, safe method.

Just take your time and be overly safe. When I turned mine over it fell on top of me and I was very lucky not to be badly injured, although I had difficulty walking for several days. Looking back it is easy to do things in a safer way.

There are some photos of what happened to me half way down this page.

wrightcomputing, thank you for sharing. I remember talking with my dad about pain, half a century ago. I was of the opinion that God and/or evolution had overdone the pain thing as a training tool, and he pointed out that much personal pain could be avoided by being attentive to how other people got hurt. As I recall (and seriously, this was 50+ years ago, so I may be paraphrasing) he said "Experience is the best teacher, and the best experience is somebody else's."

That's why I admire eloquence when somebody screws up, pays the price of pain for their screwup, and shares the lesson learned. Full disclosure of an I-screwed-up is difficult for many people (heck, even recognizing the "I" in I-screwed-up is difficult for many people) but in a forum like ours, it's a valuable public service.

I have a similar system to the OP...Except mine replaces the 'rope and pulley system' with my neighbor, the 'wheel/axle assy' with a bottle of beer, and the 'endless rope' with a bottle opener.

I too want to thank you for that reminder wrightcomputing...I've turned my increasingly heavy and awkward partial chassis over a couple of times on my own, and have even had that nearly go wrong too. I'll definitely need to be more careful as I progress in my build, once I am able to really get back into working on it more.
