Cleaning mild rust from the inside of a set of Lotus Europa trailing arms.
Hard to see details in the pic but I have a mild steel rod down the inside of each trailing arm.
They are insulated from the arms by square plastic spacers I cut.
I could have used some heavy mesh on the outside but proximity makes a difference and it is the inside I need to clean.
A little washing soda and water in a big plastic tub.
Battery charger works fine.
I've done this for even larger parts and it works fine but a bit slow.

Ran them four times and calling them done.
Very clean inside now but not shiny clean.
Getting rid of the rust was the goal.
The outside will be simple to blast.

Do you plan on providing some paint or other treatment on the inside of the tubes? If so, what?

Why not linseed oil inside the tube? It's what was done in the old days if I recall correctly.

I will grit blast the outside and inside as well as I may.
I will paint inside and out.
Then I will use the "Cavity Wax" kit I bought a while back.
It is a pro body shop kit with a long wand to reach deep into frames.
It is supposed to be very good for rustproofing inside chassis.
