Yup, us Texicans have our own set of criteria for cars and I'm not trying to be funny like Cheapracer.

The distances between cities &/or to a city from where some of us live means we ain't building no pansy city cars that only get short runs to the grocery stores on them.

We have CITIES bigger than some of those itty bitty northern STATES. It is not uncommon to have to travel 200-300 miles for daily store runs so comfort, weather protection, wind buffeting are issues that become a lot more important to us.

I live on the west side of Fort Worth and just running to Dallas and back to visit friends is well over 200 miles. I moved to this specific location so that I would be less than 100 miles from 3 different tracks.

It's cute the way Texans like to think they're soo different from everbody else, when in reality that's rarely the case. From what I can find DFW is only the 7th largest metropolitan area by square mileage falling behind NYC, Chicago, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Boston, and Los Angeles. And if you want to talk about a long commute to downtown in 'the big city' there are decent sized states, like Wyoming, Montana, and North Dakota, that don't even have a big city (100,000+) to visit...You have to cross state lines just to get to one, which is more than a mere 200-300 miles.

In other words it's just like most of the rest of the country, with a handfull of big cities, separated by hundreds of miles.

One of these day's we're going to cut Alaska in half, just to make you guys the 3rd largest state, and bring you down a notch.

....and a few tangents later, anyone still want to talk about a co-operative design and build? I've seen hijacked threads, but I've never seen hijacked threads get hijacked!

It's cute how foreigners (those not from Texas) are so completely unaware of what wide open spaces are.

Come on down, drive a around a little and then tell us what you think.

But no matter how big DFW is (over 100 miles from one side to the other) LA makes it look puny.

I have, and I just did...As I said: It's a lot like many other parts of the country, regardless of what the "natives" have convinced themselves.

Been there, done that .. grabbed a junk Miata.

Texas does seem to be the land of the cheap, throw-away Miata, lol.

Yup, Miatae are everywhere and since they are girly cars and no manly men would be seen in them they do tend to have a very finite life.

I love them so I guess that makes me not be a manly man, but I'm secure in my masculinity so it doesn't bother me.

And Driven5 I'm out of God's Country quite often and I'm always surprised at how close together towns are in other states, that is if you get off the interstate. Except when I'm headed in one direction - west.

I'm headed to sunny California in a week or so and once I leave FW heading west it seems I just about don't see another real town or good place to sleep or eat until I cross over the Rockies. Cell phone coverage is spotty too due to the low population densities.

Gonna swing north a bit on this trip and stop in Sedona cause everyone says it's worth the trip.

Anybody know a good bumper sticker printer? I know it's going to be a limited edition, but I'd like to make up a batch that say...

My Powerful Libido Compensates for My Diminutive Car

And PS--"Pipsqueak" was the funniest synonym for "small" but "diminutive" seemed more accurate. I'm open to suggestions. "Teeny-weeny" seemed a bit on the nose, as they say in the film industry.

I was active on a forum for smart fortwo owners a number of years back (never did get one). One forum member bought a license plate surround that had a programmable scrolling LED panel, which he put on his fortwo and programmed it to say,

I'm overcompensating for my enormous penis.

He posted a video of it that I can't find anymore, sadly.

I'm not sad, if I don't see an enormous penis video then I'm happy

He's fine and building a Clients car at the moment so probably keeping very busy, apparently he likes to eat.

I think I should let him give the details of the Clients car.
