So use round or square tubing ? And why.

The only real differences that I see are; Round saves you a little weight, Square saves you some work... you know, straight cuts instead of fish-mouth joints. That's all I've got! Take it as you will.

A couple of more thoughts:

Square tubes are a lot easier to attach things to, riveted panels, etc. May even save making a few br@ck^ts.

Round is much racier looking and has "softer" edges.

Also possible to use a hybrid of square and round tube, taking advantage of the characteristics of each.

I used a mix. Straight sections = square. Bent and diagonals = round

Advantages:
SQUARE is self jigging/aligning. I had tabs laser cut to fit the square tubing for suspension, etc - simple to keep them in the same plane. Also really easy to drill and weld in threaded inserts, etc etc
ROUND can be easily bent without deformation. When putting in diagonals/cross braces it is a lot easier to get the welds in the corners with round. Welding a really acute angle using square is impossible to make a nice weld, esp with TIG

Mine is primarily rectangular/square tube for ease of fabrication (no fish mouths), but I used round to triangulate the front frame and engine compartment for aero flow (radiator) and minimize space (exhaust routing). When mating round to square/rectangular, you will have to match a smaller round to larger square/rectangular to give you a weld margin all around the round member.

See the upper right diagonal in Sean's photo for an example of what I mean. It's the one going from the back of the supercharger to the junction in the foreground, just ahead of the footwell.
