What type of Floor are you thinking about using? Let me know the thickness and material props and I'll re-run the test this week.
I was speaking with one of the ID guys and he suggested making a kevlar/balsa/carbon floor pan. Using some of the materials there I can make the whole thing for $80. The other option would be an aluminum pan @ .050 thk??
Open for suggestions on this...
I am also looking to shave a little bit of weight. 220lbs for a chassis seems really heavy. Any suggestions here??
I don’t have much trust in the results from carbon fiber yet; but I could run it, that adds other complexity as well because in real life it’s not just boned. So it will not be as accurate. I’ll give it a shot just don’t bet your life on the validity of the results.
For the Aluminum, I need you to be more accurate with the properties, are you looking at a 6061 or a 1060? Take a look at the Alloys in the SolidWorks database and let me know what one you wish to use.
220lbs is a little heavy, many of the tubes do not need to be so large. they could be just smaller, for square for ease of cutting. Knowing what tubes is the hard part.
