Langan, you out their ?

Have a question about the body . How long is the glass part of the body ? I'm trying to work on a car that needs to have a total length of 102" . I was thinking if I went with a FWD system in place of the VW system I could make the Manx body work ? This would eliminate the rearmost engine overhang.

So what do you think ?
Thanks,Randy

Body is from tip of nose to rear plate mount 114". From center of wheel to back of seat is 16". My rear wheels are 2" back from stock. The Midlana is 22.5 from center of wheel to back of seat bar. You could gain some room by moving axle forward mine on Midlana are 1.5 back and motor tilted forward. So you could get to say 19" and move seat forward in Buggy. Or use a 4 seater body or a different engine and trans. Kartracer is thinking of doing the same. Only reason I did not do it was I had a VW engine and trans laying around and a VW pan. Pan ended up junk so thats why I made frame. I have been driving it and in no way does it seam light in front But more HP would be nice.

VW engine left over from sale of TOW'D.
Only side view of Midlana I have for comparision see side view of me in Buggy

Was home for a week so I got a little done on buggy. Alum. package tray sort of done needs the lid and some more fitting. Tunnel needs the access doors. Almost ready to take apart to paint. Happy New Year

Floors are in, wiring, fuel pump problems solved test drives done time to take apart and weld up and finnish all loose ends "I HOPE". So I did some thinking this build seamed to take a long time, but only home 13 weeks a year out of that maybe 20hrs each visit for car so 260hr build sound better. We know how long the little thing take and my resent finnishing record has not been good "Midlana". I hope to change that.

Very cool buggy. Which body manufacturer is that? I'm thinking about the buggy body for my next scratch build, but not on a vw chassis/swing axle. How wide are those manx tubs at the base? Where do you think the seating position would be with a mid-engine k24 manx, looks like you would maybe have to move the cockpit forward a few inches to clear the intake?

Body is a Manx
It is a tube chassis see jims build on Samba.com gallery
Unless you are very short the standard body is tough to mid engine
If I can help you let me know.

See my build "The LOLCost" ... I'm doing this but with a J35A4 Longitudinally mounted. It's a very tight fit. A K24 transverse mounted would leave plenty of room for the driver and passenger. In my case I'm going to be very squished and will modify the manx tub so that I have more leg room at the front. Not sure where I will put the fuel tank- but I'll figure it out eventually.

This build is awesome, by the way!! Been eyeing it since someone pointed me towards it a few weeks ago.

Here is the link. I noticed the builds are split between this sub forum and the build logs sub forum.
