This is a long shot but does anyone know what kit this is or could point me someplace that might know? Mid engine, right hand drive with Fiat wheels. No motor or transmission. From some of the stuff I found in it I believe a Fiat was used as a donor. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, now that is cool. Never seen that one before. If you are on the British Locost builders forum you might ask them. Russ

I have no idea either, but I like it. Are you going to get it and build it to completion?

Toby, I posted this on the UK Locost Builders site for you. Trouble is I will be out of town and won't be able to see if anyone posts anything. Here is the link: http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/forum/5 ... pid1821090

Picked up the car last night. Before I do anything to it I wanted to find out what I have.
From the information I found today it might be a Paul & Bob Swensen (PBS) of PBS Engineering Mk-2 but there is very little information.
I need to strip it down and take a close look at the space frame and then go from there.

I know I've seen this before but I don't remember where. Looked through some old kitcar mags but could not find a reference.

La Darwi offered a kit in '65 based on the PBS MK2 called Formula Libre just before they stopped selling kits. Note the MK2 has gullwing doors. Not sure about the Libre.

This has many of the features (but not the styling) of the '96 Zagato Raptor that was a one-off based on a lambo.

I have no idea what it is, but it looks cool. Hopefully you do a build thread we can follow.

I have a few more pictures but not that great; have been super busy this week.
Did check out the space frame and its in bad shape. So if this turns out to be just a one off with no historical value, I will build a new space frame and find something to through in it and have some fun. I included a shot of the safety glass label. The windscreen is 17" tall by around 48" wide. I was measuring it by myself so the width could be off. Trying to find what windscreen is in it.

Cool body!

What's the track width/wheelbase? I'm wondering if an MX-5 or RX-8 rollerskate with a shortened driveshaft and PPF would fit...

Thanks for sharing the pics. I think the windscreen maybe Jag XKE. Rare fiat 13x5.5 rims. I think this was a race car that may have been offered as a kit based on the fiat x19. I spy some good engineering in the cutting torch carnage. I think I may have seen this offered in the back of a Car and Driver, Motortrend, R&D, etc versus a kit car mag.

wheelbase is 83.5" and it is around 56" wide. It is small.

Looks like it's set up for a longitudinal engine to me rather than transverse like an X 1/9. And if it actually were a race car it'd be more likely to be longitudinal with a Hewland. Can't see any shift linkage remnants, which would be a fair clue from their placement.

Another thing that makes me say "kit car" vs "race car" are things like the radius rods being bushed rather than heim jointed. Wasn't really commonly done in period for race cars but fairly common on kit cars for better ride and they're cheaper.

It definitely looks familiar though, and I can't place it either. May just be "generic late 60's race car/exotic" looking.

EDIT: Had another look over the pics and in one the shift linkage IS visible, I hadn't noticed the car was right hand drive and was looking for it in the wrong place. Looks like it's put out well back and right from where an X 1/9 linkage would be to me. Shifter is on the far right of the car as is the linkage which is sort of a race car thing to do at the time.
