The off roaders here in the desert do their torsion tests by hanging their vehicles from chains suspended from conventional lifts. They have some kind of riggers' scales on the chains. This eliminates lateral forces that can cause bad readings. And it's a lot easier. We had a big discussion on this; wasn't that on this forum?

Horizenjob: The graphs as you said are based on roll, so you have to coordinate front to rear and adjust your spring/arb roll stiffness to accommodate or to transfer roll stiffness. Then throw in variable roll due to rising fulcrums (roll centers). Did I say the math was hell?
TMI may be right in their design: just ignore that chassis torsional rigidity exists or is necessary. Become a denier.

I recall that (OzGecko? - see non-traditional builds) had a post showing the NZL DOT torsional test set-up. It looked simple enough for you and me to approximate.

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

where have you been too? I haven't seen a post from you in a long time

I'm in full-time lurk mode. I think I'm pretty much over cars. Since retirement, I'm into guitars: playing, collecting, restoring, and building Martins. Shorter project duration is appreciated.

From those wacky Aussies...

The pics on there document how they do a torsion test.

It seems the exocars link (first and second link) goes to a virus download page. Do not download and force close the browser

The "exocars" link now resolves to h t t p s : / /w w w.dealsteals.us/ best/ ao?y=colleges-online-accredited-best blah blah...

Apparently exocars let their domain registration lapse and it has been taken over by a link farm.
