I figured a cheap way to overhaul basically sound suspension and drivetrain components would be to buy new boots and seals. Of course I tossed the old ripped and cut ones before investigating this theory. Now I cannot find anywhere that sells just the track rod end boots, or the lower control arm ball joint boot on there own. Does anyone know where I can get these, hopefully, cheap bits?

Cheers

Check for the part number in the garage section of miata.net. They have the manuals the parts dept uses to look up the part number. From there talk to any of the online Mazda parts dept ie Mazdastuff(MazdaSouth in Austin) or Rosenthal. I have had several good experiences using Mazdastuff.

Thanks,

the garage part of Miata.net was great. Got all the part numbers I needed. Now I just have to find someone to sell the bits to me.

Of course if no one wants to sell you the seals you could always buy the whole component on E-bay :P . I was just browsing and find "World Suspensions". They had a pair of lower ball joints for ~$20 and a pair of outer tie rods for ~$18, with reasonable shipping. It is just not worth messing around for that price. I will let you know what they are like when they arrive.

I was just scanning through some of my posts when I found this one.

I thought it was worth providing an update -

I am almost at the stage of registering my car and I have been doing a pre-inspection inspection. The super cheap track rod end boots have perished already :(, and where I have used a ball joint splitter during the course of the build I have ripped the top and bottom ball joint rubbers.

Time to break out the super glue....
