Don't know if this has been posted before....

"A Car Is Born" is a comprehensive British based build of a Cobra kit car and shows very well whats involved including the boring bits and the budget blowouts. Also shows a few other kit car finished builds along the way.

Very strongly recommend watching it if you have no idea what building a car is about and bear in mind this is a very easy kit to do so may help you to make judgments on your own ideas.

There are other builds in the "A car ..." series but this one is the closest to our lot.

These episodes are at Streetfire as well as "an MG Is Born" and "A Car Is Reborn" (E Type resto) - Streetfires search engine is a bit wonky and you need to look for the 15 episodes not in order over the first 3 search pages (most are on page 3 for me) ...

Probably being bored with actually having money would also qualify!

Just wait until someone writes "Build Your Own Helicopter for $500 and Fly It!". ;)

Anyone will be able to build one in their garage with only some basic tools.

Personally I'm holding out for "Build your own space shuttle for $500, and race it" (Yeah, I guess we'll have space racing by then.

Would have the typical donor problems though. There just aren't many Sopwith Camels over here. We will be stuck explaining to people why their Mustang's Merlin V12 was too big and probably dangerous for their build.

The funny part is that there's a guy about an hour from me that built his own helicopter. He was on a show called 'how things move'. He did talk about the engine failing on him one time...

That one's already been done. Andy Griffith did it years ago. He used a cement mixer truck for the capsule.

I watched quite a bit of "A Car Is Born" yesterday and it's not bad. I liked the segment on a Jaguar C-Type kit car. Looks nice, although I'm not a huge fan of fiberglass.
