Are the CMC frames any good? Any history or background on the company available, designs, specs etc?

Thanks!

Is the CMC frame part of a running car?

If it isn't I would do some reading on here. Based on most builder's posts, it sounds like finishing one takes a bit of tweaking.

CMC frames are basically a "book" frame. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of Locosts built to that basic design. Just because CMC dropped off the face of the earth, doesn't mean they frame design was bad. Certainly look into the Aussie mods though. Beyond that, all the other bits such as control arms and pickup points are as unique as the builders. Just one opinion from a CMC (heavily modified) frame builder.

My build is based off of a CMC frame, it is OK, even though there were a few spots that needed some attention. I believe Jack at Kinetic Vehicles may still have some CMC frames for sale.

The later ones are designed for the "whippet" style a-arms, which I believe are better designed than the early ones.

I started with a CMC frame and it was pretty good. Reasonably straight and pretty good welds. I ended up cutting off the front suspension mounts for the shocks and the upper arms to get the ride height decent. I also made my own front upper arms because the ones that came with it sucked. There are a lot of other things that got changed or modified and even more things I would change if I were to do it over again. Including building my own frame from scratch.
