Post subject:  Tractor Supply Aluminum paint

I was down at the local Tractor Supply looking for some of that Valspar tractor paint that is so durable to repaint one of the trailers that I use to transport one of the race cars when I came across this.

Has anyone used or heard of this.

I thought it might make some cool "chromelike" suspension pieces or other bits.

The pics and write up talked about painting metal and it shows some storage bins. If this is the same paint I've seen these things painted in it was a very nice look and durable too.

I believe it was only $34 a gallon.

Not sure if it's as chromelike as you'd be looking for. Stuff I've seen is like a small fleck silver grey metallic. Tends to swirly if not stirred good and can separate into lighter/darker patches even then.

However, back in the day in the UK, "aluminum paint" seemed to be a fairly generic item that had pretty good rust resistance and covered good, also normally had decent heat resistance, "stock" as it were. It seemed to be cellulose lacquer based.

Since I've been in Canada, I haven't really found what would be the exact equivalent, tremclad or armorcoat aluminum I guess, but they do a separate higher heat version.
