Motorcycle headlights in fairings like on the sport bikes - do they put out the same amount of light as car headlights?

Is their pattern good?

Are they adjustable?

I keep seeing them and thinking they would look good glassed into the fenders of a nontraditional body build.

Not sure about all of them but, Most motorcycle headlights project the beam differently than a auto headlight. Mostly because the are mounted on the center of the bike not spread apart like a car.

Other than that they are the same.

I know for sure that a 7" round auto light works terrible on a bike, You pretty much need to use a bike headlight, I have tried it before because car headlights are generally cheaper.

That makes a certain amount of sense since I know on cars the drivers side is a slightly different pattern or at least adjusted differently than the passenger's side so as not to blind oncoming traffic.

I was walking by a sport bike last night which is what prompted this thread. It almost looked as if the beams were adjustable.

In the old days of a center round light you just raised or lowered it to adjust it. I never felt like I had enough light. I've not driven the sport bikes for any distance at night so I don't know how they feel.

I much prefer the newer headlight coverage on cars to the older round versions.

Not quite true, they spread a pattern as they have to according to law and are opposite for left hand and right hand drive countries.

That's reasonably modern ones of course, 1960/70's 7" are pretty simple.

So one from the Colonies and one from across the pond gets you a matched set.

Yes sir I took my LHD BMW back to the UK and had a few things to change including the Headlights, rear Fog light , Speedo and number plates (license plate). Also wing mirrors are different because the drivers side sits much flatter, I ended up with UK wing mirrors on Euro BMW and could only just use the drivers side one as it did not go out far enough. It funny if you look at wing mirrors from behind the are the off side is typically a little bit smaller then the drivers side.
