Hey guys.. I have a car with very nice paint, and I need to do an engine transplant and lots of work with suspension fabbing/mods. I'm worried about scarring up this very nice body, so I thought I'd ask what you guys have used in this instance?

I know fender skirts go a long way, but I'm also concerned about the door/ quarter sides and other surfaces (pretty much all painted surfaces)..

Surely there's a heavy plastic that's easy to apply/remove when it's time?

I've googled a bit on this, but I'm not coming up with a source..

as always, thanks for the help

Cardboard and duct tape should go a long ways. .. Or load blankets, I've used those before.

I too have used moving blankets. The cheap ones from Harbor Freight duct taped to the body have worked well for me in the past.
Cheers,
Stewart.

Don't use cardboard against painted surfaces, too much grit and wood fibers. Will scratch paint. Freshly washed terrycloth towels taped with blue painters tape will not scratch and doubled or tripled up will afford some cushioning factor.

When working underhood on high-end cars I usually use a section of cloth (whatever you feel is best for your paint. I just use old cotton towels), and then place my normal foam fender covers over top for impact protection. So far, never had a scratch.
Cheers.

Pallet wrap is tough old stuff, you just need a decent hot air gun to shrink it down.

Cheap blankets from online or flea markets. And old sheets make great dust covers.

Around here, you don't want to cover anything with plastic. The humidity and temperature swings will make anything covered with plastic sweat and corrode.
