Does anyone make these? I am slowly working towards finishing my Locost. I want a simple grille with a "7" in the middle.

Any advice?

Are you looking for the grille or the "7" emblem? The grille you can make from a expanded metal, screen, architectural screen, etc. Mine is actually a cookie/cake cooling rack. The "7" is another story. There was a group buy on some plasma cut stainless "7"s about a year ago on this forum. He might have some left. Do a search for it. Let me know if you can't find it. Russ

Hi James,

I considered trying to make very 7 type grill. However what I wanted was beyond alot more effort than I wanted to exert for a grille. When a grille guard from a wrecked Peterbuilt became available I used it. Then when Botbasher offered up the '7' unsert I had to have one. Here's how mine looks. YMMV

Cheers

I like to think your car's grill ultimately reflects the pride and craftsmanship of your car. That said, the simple wire mesh screen (got mine at McMaster-Carr) works pretty darn good.

Yup, botbasher put together an awesome group buy on the grille emblems that he had made. You could see if he still has any left, I think he had a few extras when it was all done. Here's mine, the rest of the grill is just fine expanded metal that I took from a large air filter and painted black.

Thanks! I will see if botbasher has any. I like the examples that all of you have shown.

BTW Kristian, I like the look you created. It is a lot like mine. I like the non fender look and open side engine compartment. Mine has open engine compartment mainly for cooling and to accommodate my big honking turbo!!

Also how did y'all connect the "7" to the wire mesh grille?

We were given the choice of "with or without" mounting studs. IIRC, turbo_bird got his with studs.

I got one of each. The studless one does make a good wall ornament though. The studs are welded on the back of the stainless insert and just poke through the grill with some nylock nuts on them.

Thanks! I might need that. My uncle has a Torchmate plasma cutting table. His has software that can take that file and then make it.
