Part of my plan is to end up with an all AL car, the scuttle and the nose are all that's left in fiberglass. I was always of the opinion that the Locosts looked stunted compared to the Caterhams/Berkin/Westfield/Superperformance. While at NJMP this weekend I look a tape measure to just about every car I could find. The Lococt has a 27 inch gap between the scuttle and the start of the rear wheel section. I was amazed on what I found, the Stalker was the next at 24", the rest were in the 17-20" range. So on some cars it's 10" shorter, that's a lot. So I guess my new AL scuttle is getting wider. It's going to be a lot more difficult to build as the current one stops were the angled upper frame rails stop. The new scuttle will have to run over the straight frame rails, so that will be a tougher compound curve. Well winter is coming and that will be my project. The car is running very will so I am happy on the performance front.

Lore is shorter is better, at least with regard to less turbulence when driving. But it also makes it harder to get in and out.

The Lotus S1 drawing that floats around the net shows the cockpit opening is 17.5" from the bottom of the dash to the rear end of the floor pan.

Yes, you are quite correct. It's a known design difference and one that personally bothered me for some time about the locosts.

Here is a good picture that indicates that difference

Major visual differences in general:
Scuttle location
Angled "door" bars
Tilted roll cage
Angled rear "basket" top
Angled rear "basket" bottom
