Graham, how did you flat bend the steel flats to form the curved pieces on your doors. I was going to use round until I looked closer at your doors. The flat looks a lot stronger and easier to weld. Can't wait until JUNE!!!! Russ

Hi Russ. To bend the flat steel I put one end in the vice and then used gradual heat, (not red hot) mainly on the outer radius side to bend it. It pays to wear a leather glove while doing this. It gets a couple of wrinkles in it but not bad, then I hammered those flat on an anvil and fitted it to the body. I guess kind of "Blacksmithing" it. Thanks for the comment Geoff.

Hi Graham,

Great top! Can you post some pictures of the bimini top? Did you take any pics of the full top's framework? If so, can you post those also? How did you get the top to make a good seal to the windscreen?

 ,

The headlight cleaner, like you see on the TV for getting the milky look off? I have some of that. I will give it a try. Thanks.

Graham - wonderful looking top and doors. You are a real craftsman! Would love to see a detailed shot of the top to windshield attachment. To polish you lexan use an aircraft product such as
www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog/fbpages/FBallKleer.php There are lots of similar products available online or at your local aircraft supply store. Remember that products certified for use on aircraft are guaranteed to work and not damage the plastic otherwise they would be looking at big lawsuits.

On a topic related to keeping rain out of a Locost, how does everyone deal with rain that does get in? Do you have drainholes in your floor? In your seat bottoms? Or should one just prepare to get used to having wet pants?

Thanks Bill. Give me a few days to get the top attaching photos. I thought I had some but can't find them. I need to pull the motor so when I uncover it I will get them then.

Graham I know you said earlier "Skin attaches like a regular door skin". Since I haven't an idea how that is, how did you do it? Also I remember your door skin was real thin, what gauge is it? I am making my doors finally and hope to have them ready for the Gathering. Too bad you won't be there to see them. Russ

Graham,
That's fabulous work, really breaking new ground. I've been deeply involved with the new commercial product I've been designing, so I've fallen behind by quite a bit. I've only managed about 4 hours a week for the last 6 months.

Your 7 looks very special, different and next generation. As someone else said, "it looks aggressive" I'm sure I'm going to follow your lead once I can get back to mine.

Best Wishes

Geoff
