I took Jack's top idea.My head doesn't hit on bumps if I slouch.
Man does it look fast & powerful ( false advertising )
It opens 3/4 of the top from both sides- one at a time.
Pull the hinge pins and it fits in the trunk for a sunny day.

That looks very practical. Being able to put it in the trunk is great! Nice looking car, I love the Lalo bodywork.

Man, that's great, and you couldn't have posted at a better time. I just ordered a LALO body from Jack, and have been designing things in my head. Thanks, and keep posting.

mkejim --

Talk to me about the front roll hoop. I'd been thinking along the same lines, having the front roll hoop be part of the windshield hoop so it doesn't look like, well, a roll hoop welded into a dash or something.

Got pics? Tips and tricks?

I think my rear roll hoop will be a bit taller, and perhaps the front and rear connected for strength and to help old guys like me get in and out?

BTW, great pics, and love your ideas.

I used1.5 inch diameter .010" DOM tubing I bent it with a speedway hydraulic bender it's almost the same curvature as the die.I did it into pieces and welded the center top. Bend a little hold up to the windshield - bend a little check fit repeat ...........
Welded a 1" tab in 2" sections to glue windsield to.check out page 26of this thread to see the assembly

You mean ".125" or something close to that?

Again, thanks.

Mkejim, I know that I'm late on this thread, but do you have any photos of the latches you use to hold the top on? How has it worked out in practice?

Thanks

Bill

The hood has 3 cam locks on each side holding it down.
The trunk has tool box latches holding it in place.
The Scuttle is held down by the windshield and roll bar.
( I bet the purest are spitting on the ground with words like trunk and Hood )

Sorry I couldn't take pictures sooner but I had a right knee total replacement.
I used three - quarter turn Fasteners on each side of the hood.

On the receptacle side I needed to put the loop to guide the hood in the right spot.Half the time the hood would go on the back side and scratch the paint.

Good to see you're recovered enough to type--last time we talked, you were halfway between the pain and the painkillers; fun to talk with but not very informative.

I think "hood" and "trunk" are fine; now that GB is out of the EU, they'll have to get used to understanding foreigners.

Yes Jack the conversation was strange from my end too I could tell you were telling jokes but I just didn't understand any of them. In my case oxycodone must subtract 50 IQ points.
Anyway here is a picture of the front hinge point for the hood.

Glad you are feeling better, or at least more coherent.

Now that both you and Jack are both on line, can one of you tell me the dimensions of your pick up truck windshield? I want to use one (it looks GREAT here) but need some basic dimensions for the design. Thanks!

Terry
