strange really, the silence is deafening,

i thought this type of modification would be of interest here being locost and almost completely fabricated by me, but obviously not.

it was showing a lot of interest when people didn't think it would work especially when my knowledge of internal combustion engines was challenged.

oh well it was only for my benefit, a bit like the electric power steering and cup holders.

i will say that the air/fuel meter was the #1 expense at over $300.00, if i was being really cheap, i could have used a Hobbs switch set at 5lbs. and the tumble flap solenoid to limit boost because seeing what the air/fuel ratio is is just for my reference, likewise the displaying of the boost pressure, the ford EEC-V seems to have self adjusted to keep the fuel in line with the air, you could see and here this adjustment going on when i first started the engine with the blower, although how much was just plain luck or by intelligent design is debatable, a bit like life really.

i must admit there was a eureka moment when the fuel/air gauge show 11.8 - 1 when i stepped on the throttle and stayed there while in boost.

Perhaps everyone is just in awe. Congrats on it all coming together. Just shows there is more than one way to skin a cat.

I'm reading. I just have nothing to add. Good job! Did you think about posting some pictures. We love pictures. :D

$300 for an wideband w/meter? Really? Did you look at 14point7? I had an early one and had no complaints at all. I see that they have a newer wideband controller (Spartan2) with sensor for about 125$ plus another $50 for an actual gauge. They even offer an DIY open-frame version with 2-line display (SLC-FREE-B) for ~$95 including sensor. Just saying......

I didn't have the knowledge to even try to argue whether or not this idea could/should/would work, but it's cool that your experiment appears to be a success so far. Thanks for sharing.

I've been paying attention, just nothing to add. I have a complete but very ratty supercoupe at home, and my wife's old focus with a 2.3 Duratec which she hates and is no longer driving. Bonus, it's a 5 speed. Your project makes me wonder how much boost it would take before it gets hurt, but I don't really have the time or a warm work space to play with stuff like that right now.

Me to. I'm just glad it worked for you.

Having said that, I do think you should re-think your AFR target. I've found that my D'tec 2.5 prefers mid 13's. Hard to see how five pounds of boost would require 11's. At one time, I had the 2.3 running in the twelves, and it ran good. It ran better in the 13's, but required a less aggressive spark map. The Duratec seems to be knock limited just off idle, not so much 2000 up.

just a note of caution to anyone wishing to do this,

if you use a focus duratec it might not work as the focus uses a different pcm with an "oak" processor and also uses a variable speed fuel pump that runs on pulses, an all together different animal.

if i had started with that set up, all the info given by others would probably apply because i don't know of any simple and cheap way to obtain the required fuel/air combinations to keep the motor happy.

Well that's good to know, thanks. I'm hoping to someday build another, better locost, and I've considered either a Ford 302 or a high winding 4 cylinder. Caterham uses supercharged duratecs, so they must work ok. Either way I'd probably go megasquirt for a Locost, but I figured a quick and dirty supercharged focus would be lots of fun. Guess that's not in the cards.

well i couldn't leave it alone could i,

installed a tweecar and started to tune but i need some bigger injectors because i can lean it out at WOT. and when your at 99.9 pulse width there is no other answer. believe me i've tried

so a set of blue giants is in the future as fitted to the cobras

A 'quick and dirty' supercharged Ranger could be a good bit of fun too.
