 Post subject: DIY muffler?

So. .. I had to reside my fireplace and replaced the insulation around the insert while everything was apart.
Durn rodents got inside the wall thru a gap in the flashing. :BH:
Ended up with some leftover "fireplace insulation" rated for 1800 degrees F (according to what I'm told anyways).
So I'm wondering, anyone close to me want to try their hand at using some in a hand made muffler?
I doubt it would be worth shipping but if'n anyone wants I can figure out how I suppose.
Roughly 3 inches thick and seems to be made of calcium silicate or something of the sort, melted rock ran thru a cotton candy machine.
