The biennial (ie every 2 years) Australian Clubman Nationals finished up last week. Here's a few pictures to capture the flavour of the event.

60-plus cars line up on the grid at historic Lakeside Park Raceway:

The Show and Shine in suburban Caloundra attracted plenty of interest

There's also a Photobucket gallery where various images have been dropped by attendees - http://s828.photobucket.com/user/qcn2013/library/

Happy to answer any questions I can about the cars or the event.

Dominic

What a great turnout. Since it was a national event, I'll assume the vehicles were from all states, not just Queensland. The ones with trailers are very appealing and nicely done. It's been my daydream to tour with my own build when it's done, but I let go of the trailer idea as my build is complicated enough already.

As you'll guess, I looked through the Photobucket album extensively. There's lots of clever features on those cars and some really outstanding examples of workmanship. The on-track video from the green Clubman was a nice extra. Is that your car, Dominic?

Cheers,

Lonnie

Lonnie,

Sorry for the slow response - been out of town for a few days.

The on-track video is not mine - in fact, my car is still not complete so was at the event on a trailer only :) My build diary here is at http://www.locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=3241.

Yes, there were cars from most states of Australia, including one from Perth. Although he had the car rail freighted to Adelaide and then drove from there, he still won "Furthest Travelled"! To put that in some perspective, here's an image I'm fond of using for these comparisons:

As you can see, his journey was a bit like freighting a car from LA to New Orleans and then driving from there to Washington DC! There were also a number of other people who drove from around Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney. Everything is a long way in Australia :)

Glad you found the pics interesting,

Dominic

And don't you guys have a whole lot of nothing in the middle? That would make the drive seem even longer.

We've got a whole lot of nothing between Cali and the middle part of Texas (at least from a driving perspective) and if you stay on the interstates it gets boring as all get out.
