Stupid question as I didn't take the car apart - how do the front subframe and front panels mate on a Mk1 Mini?

There are two bolt holes on the subframe and they line up with two threaded holes on the replacement front panel but the inner fenders are keeping the two from touching (about a 1/2" gap).

I can't find a good picture anywhere and I'm trying to avoid cutting 1/2" off of the inner fenders just to have to add it back later. Also the replacement front panel was purchased by the previous owner and came with the car. Are the Mk1 and later cars different in this area? Is it possible that I have the wrong front panel and that is causing the gap?

They are rubber mounted between body and subframe and there are spacers between the turrets and subframe.

I thought those were Mk4+ only? Mine is a 1964 Mk1. I thought the subframe and front panel just bolted together?

This is what I currently have. I can see how the mount you posted would attach to the front panel using the threaded hole.

I feel like the previous owner may have ordered a 76+ front panel but I'm not sure.
