My Dad sent this to me from his E Type group. I tend to agree with the author, considering what the car was like before they built it, I applaud what they did. I wish they would have kept the drivetrain jaguar even if it was a modern jaguar drivetrain rather than installing a the JZE engine. Still a cool build.

I love the craftsmanship and attention to detail with which it was executed, and kudos to them saving what little was left of that one from the worst fate that can befall any car!

I quite like it, with the body being one step away from the crusher I have no issues with them turning it into a car again. But, I don't quite get why it's a drift car. Why not a hill climb car or a track day special.

No niche of the automotive hobby that I'm aware of is logical. So alternatively, why a hill climb car or a track day special? Why not a drift car?

Ultimately it's like asking why order a burger with cheddar cheese and onions? Why not with bleu cheese and bacon, or swiss cheese and mushrooms?

Considering that any sane individual would have parted/scrapped that thing, I give them a hearty thumbs-up. I have a friend who did something similar, but not so wild with an Alfa. When anybody takes an air about authenticity, I mention that the car was scrapyard bound and that he took 8 years to build the thing. Purists can stuff themselves.

There's not a ton of difference between a drift car and a good hillclimber. The front suspension has to be rebuilt to take extreme angles, and there are other details, but the thing isn't far off of being a legitimate race car.

Far be it from me to tell somebody what they should do with their rust. However, I do take exception to one statement thay made,

Quote:
"His grandad’s old Jaguar E-Type was sat rotting away in a barn, and it was free, but Nick and Charlie decided it was far too far gone to even consider.
After several more visits to the barn, and several cans of cider, the brothers decided to remove doubt from their minds by sand blasting what was left of the shell, “hoping nothing would come back,” Charlie tells me. “Unfortunately, after we were done, the front and rear bulkheads were still intact, so then we had to go ahead with the build.””

If they could do this amount of work on the Jag, it could have been restored to original condition too.

Like I said, they did what they wanted with their car. And a good job they did too. Kudos!
