I know, this isn't my car, but I keep refering to my friend's Birkin build, and now it's done and awaiting inspection. It has done a few guerrilla runs up the street, and I've seen and heard it spit flames from the exhaust during early starting attempts. It's got a silver top toyota with ITBs and megasquirt, coupled to a 5spd Brit Ford gearbox. He painted it himself ...

Tony is who got me started down the Locost route instead of a building a hotrod.

very nice!
Please pass on some advice to your friend.
I found the stock gas cap leaked with a full tank, and have also heard the same from others.
I replaced mine with an aero style cap made by Newton Mfg. in england. I found the most economical course was to order direcly from the UK.

cheers

Maria and I had just returned from shopping when we heard a noise outside the garage doors, and what did we find but Barb and Tony arriving on their first drive outside their neighbourhood.

Tony took me for a little spin, which was quite interesting. He's still struggling a bit with MS tuning and has a 1800 RPM idle (cruise control, as long as you don't want to go slow). The ride was surprisingly smooth and supple over some of our local bumps and it goes like a scalded cat when the loud pedal is pushed. Loud pedal is the right word!

The photos show his two 'Nova Scotia bumpers.' The front one is OK, but the rear one is a little temporary ...

Tony got hold of scales to weigh and corner weight it. 1338 lbs with half fuel and no driver. 50-50 weight balance without driver (repeatable within about 5 lbs)
