I have finally finished enough to apply for title and registration here in VA. The car is a book chassis with a Nissan ca18det engine, rx7 rear with a rorty rear suspension scheme, front end is mustang II rack with mustang II spindles and 11" gm metric brakes, I used kinetics' nose and scuttle both of which had to be raised to clear the engine. Haven't much street time as the local law enforcement frowns on that sort of thing. But the little time I do has been very promising. Not really a locost as I spent 7000$ to get what I wanted.

Wow. That's gorgeous. The chrome-and-stainless details (chrome headlights, polished stainless stanchions) look good against the black body.

I'd say you're past "kinda" on finished, but much like a relationship with a human being, a relationship with a Locost can always be improved.

You got what you wanted for seven grand? Sounds to me like it qualifies.

Very nicely detailed. Great job. I think when your interior is fully carpeted, you get to call it done. I think seven grand is on the cheaper side of average for a Locost these days. I officially claim to have spent $7200 (the CA DMV has to know), but I might've missed a few bits in that total.

Very nice, congrats. I agree with the others that $7000 isn't a bad price. I'm well over that on my car, and it's nowhere near as deluxe as yours. Considering you've got a hand built sports car just like you wanted and probably had a lot of fun building it, I'd call it a bargain. My wife says she likes the way it looks without a rollbar.

Beautiful car! I agree with the others, $7000 is cheap. I spent twice that.

Once it is license plates on it, it is done. Everything after that are "mods". Looks great BTW.

Looks excellent, love the black paint, my favorite color for a car.

Great looking build. Nice color combo!! Black and silver is a great contrast! I have a 1911 Clone in the same scheme!

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments, It was fun building the car, although I'm hoping it'll be more fun to drive. Most choice were driven by cost and quality. The Nissan CA18DET is an incredibly strong engine, easily modified, but a little tall for the book plans, hence the higher hood nose and scuttle. I'm pushing 200 hp with the stock ecu and fuel and turbo mods. The RX7 rear is also very strong and easily converted to a control arm setup. The mustang parts in the front end are readily available with lots of options, like big brakes. I used a tilton pedal assembly with dual masters so dialing in the brakes shouldn't be to bad. The wish list includes a tonneu for the back, and dry sumping the engine to get it lower. Just mailed everything to dmv and haggerty has my application, so it shouldn't be long now.

Welcome and congrats on having a new car! Please keep posting as you learn things and get experience with your car. We like pictures of you having fun in your car too, if it so happens it fails to keep breaking down.

Your car has excellent balance and proportions. So many you see never look right, you hit this one spot on.

Excellent work, something to be proud of.

Any more pics or details would be interesting.

Well Done Old Sport

You can build the most awesome thing in the world but at some point, an 80yr old man in a crx is probably going kick your butt on the track... don't ask me how I know.

Wow, looks great :) The proportions look perfect, and the old style bench seat gives it that classic look. Very nice, clean result :)
