Anybody else having very slow response for the site in the last day ot two? For example, when I went to create this new topic, it took 15 seconds to load the page. Normaly it would be ~1 second before it opened the new page. Clicking to open a thread may take longer. Sometimes if I click the "back" button in the upper left hand corner, it never loads that page at all. I have rebooted and it is not fixed. I have no problems on other sites.

It happened just before the site went down and now is even worse.

I think it's working off a tin can & string connection. :P

I feel like some web hosting companies keep putting you on slower and slower servers until you finally complain. I think they look at overall server usage and not individual site response.

It seemed to me it got slow after the site crashed the other day. I don't know why, if I can find out who to complain to, I will.

yup. Slow. As well, I have a log update to post with multiple pictures and if i try to post multiple pictures, or sometimes only one, it crashes with the message:

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@locostusa.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

How are things these days? I don't get on as often as I used to, but I haven't seen much slowness. I only get on late at night...I'll drop in during the day and see if I see any slowness.

Ok...posting that message was downright pokey - maybe 10 seconds. But reading pages (not posting) seems normal speed. Does that match what you all are seeing?

Post subject:  Re: Slow loading web pages

I'm on here quite a bit, and at some wildly differing times. On probably 97% of my visits everything is fine, and the site moves like you'd expect for a hobby forum. Mostly fast loading pages with an occasional slow one; but usually only slightly pokey .. a few extra seconds of load time. Mostly it's great .. thanks!

But every now and then, the site becomes almost unusable, or becomes completely unavailable. I seem to catch it like that once or twice a week, usually about mid-morning, central US time, or occasionally some other random time. Those times usually do seem to coincide with typical high traffic times for the internet at large, but all of the other sites I typically visit are fine.

My (very wild) guess would be that perhaps the hosting service has our virtual server on a box (or hosting group, or network segment) with one or more sites that see very heavy traffic at typical peak internet load times, and we're just getting randomly trampled by that high-volume traffic. It might be worth asking if the hosting service is willing to relocate us to a quieter corner of their network. If that doesn't work you could always try logging connectivity (using one or more users) with a client-side script that periodically samples connectivity over time to document the problem as a failure of service issue.
