This time of year, every few days, I grate a thumb size amount of fresh ginger into the instant pot pressure cooker with a couple cups of water, then set to steam for 5 minutes. I strain, then add a few drops of lemon juice and some stevia to sweeten. Sometimes I add turmeric and black pepper.

I put the strained ginger back in the instant pot with some dry rice and water or just a can of soup and some mixed veg.

A few years ago I have installed a MrCool mini split and that is an awesome addition to my garage. Keeps it cool or hot. I have installed it myself.

@MV8
No wonder you don't get sick. That combination should scare the sh*t out of any germs within 20 yards of you. [LOL]

@tibimakai
I had to Google that one. Wow, those are very upscale. My little milk barn heaters were about $29 each through Amazon. Luckily, we only get a few weeks of really hot, sticky weather down here. I use those cheap, little, 12"x12", evaporative coolers from China during that period. They don't do a lot, but it helps some.

Cheers,

It was purchased from my bonus from work, so it was free. Since I'm spending quite some time there, I think it was worth it, specially in the summer. Here in LA summers are very hot. It is even wi-fi enabled. I can start it from work, and by the time I get home, I have a good temperature in there.

I've got 2 mini splits at my house.
One in our little 'guest house/pool house' and the other in our former garage.
Prior owners sacrificed about 40% of the garage to expand the kitchen & the rest was decked & made into a quai-room. It's now my home office/gym & has the boxes we still haven't unpacked since we moved in almost 2 years ago now.
Has a side door to the Midget as well, which is a plus.

They are great, efficient, super quite(~25dB). I use my garage as a movie theater as well, I have a 135" motorized screen, a full Dolby Atmos sound system, I repair electronics on two benches as well, that is how I fund this hobby.

I sent him an email and have not received a reply... I have his phone number but am reluctant to call or text, doing so feels a bit like prying, and I'm sure he'll respond if and when he can.

Kurt,
I'd give it a day or two since the email then call. That is about two months since he was last on the site. A courtesy 'well check' might be appropriate. Lonnie was complaining about a respiratory issue kicking his butt more than once. At our age that can be serious.

He may have internet or PC issues, in January he posted about uploads being very sluggish and was fearing the server was crashing when no-one else was having serious issues. I wouldn't think a text is a big imposition, and if you do send one please pass on how much we are missing his project updates - no pressure on anyone, but he certainly had momentum on it and it is great to share in other builders efforts and success.

:cheers: from Marcus

Lonnie doesn't have a cell phone, just a landline.
