Here's a link to my build log...http://www.lotus7.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=72

It is a 2006 Yamaha R1 powered Haynes roadster. I went with the nissan diff option initially, but it is just too heavy for a 7 style car, so I have just fitted the subaru WRX diff. Subaru have a lot of different length axles and the splines are identified by count 21, 23, 25 or 27. I managed to find a set that worked without cutting.

Finished acceleration run....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbWd5_YuDXw&feature=channel

Wow nice!!!!!!!!! There is nothing like the sound of a six speed R1 going through the gears. Also nice back yard. Russ

Thanks.. it's good living out in the country... no traffic and great scenery.

The R1 does make a nice sound....

isn't it a little dangerous driving on the wrong side of the road?

The R1 is being replaced by a 3sgte from a GT-T Caldina ( gen 4) with a 6 speed lexus gearbox. Here are some pics of the build progress:

The reason for the swap: My car was mainly for the road, and the 6500 rpm at highway speed was pretty annoying. It was great fun on the track, but I wasn't too sure how long it would last, and down here in NZ, the big bike engines are very hard to get.... The Toyota engines can be had for about US$750 complete with turbo and ecu.
