So... this was more explanatory, but its late, and i accidentally hit "back" and lost my original message, so i will be brief.

Been piecing together everything i can to build this thing, (a-arms, roll bar, pedals) all to be laughed at by my co workers for building things for a car that didnt even exist yet.

Well, i picked up this Sat:

hey, thanks for the support! its forum members like you that make me so inspired to work on this moneypit/deathtrap/soul sucker! lol

what i wanted to post earlier, but lost message, is that rear "tub" area was flat on this chassis. im sure Dustin (previous owner) had reasons, (space, ease of construction, asthetics)?

Not dissing on anything you did man, seriously, im finding more and more stuff im impressed with, not dissapointed with!

But.... i have fallen in love with these cars for their appearances, not their performance, (which varys greatly also)

So like the fenders that are "trim to fit your desired angle" kind of thing.

I relief cut the whole rear section, the three rear tubes, and the center tube on each end. On all, leaving the side opposite the bend, to aid in keeping it all square.

Then i ratchet strapped the rear section to the rear subframe support, until i was satisfied with the angle, and welded them all.

then after relief cutting and rewelding the rear portion to fit the desired angle. (112* like in the book)

i saw that the center support was "raised in the middle". i did extensive measurements, and found it was also, perfectly level.

there were only no outter supports, so i broke out the 1x1 tubing, notched for the round rear.

Imageo they were "sagging" on the end

Oh, forgot to mention, the barrels in the first pic were FREE DIESEL i pumped from semi truck tank at work when i had to weld a crack earlier last week! Our company's policy is to not pump it back into the tanks.

Yo Toyotus-
Looks to me like you got yourself a frame... "the easy way"... Good for you! Like Gordon said, you skipped the first 100 steps! Keep the pics and updates coming, we like to see what's goin' on in the rest of the world. And let's not "fat finger" that "Back" button too often, OK?

So, whatcha gonna do with all that "free diesel"???

So luckily i had clear weather all the way back to Oregon from Thousand Oaks. But with this coastal air, it already aquired much surface rust. So i shot a heavy coat of Ospho on it, (also for free!) and will be painting later this week with a gallon of our akrylid oil based enamel we paint our truck frames with, you guessed it, for..... FREE!

label says: "changes iron oxide to iron phosphate, a hard black enert substance"

and it did!

Ya, i had to keep spinballing ideas to go get this thing, one option was my Land Rover, ~ $550 in gas

another was either strapping it to the roof of the corolla, or making hitch on corolla for dirtbike trailer, both of which not sure would've made it there, let alone back, and still ~$200-250 in gas

and then at the last minute, a truck driver @ work i hardly know, loaned me his truck, in exchange for a service, so i happily agreed.

$19 in filters overall, (oil is also free @ my work!)
