You can't have the rear view mirrors too high up. Yes, I know that the 7 is smaller than everything else, but you'd be amaze how much mirror space can be taken up with an elbow or the rear fenders.

LOL! Thanks Lonnie. I have a guy coming this weekend to pick up the tractor, it's time to let it go.

I put the mirrors in the same orientation as Locost #1 and I like it, I like it a lot, that way there will be no surprises on Locost #2.

Today I purchased an accessory for the 7, this I couldn't fab myself.

Not just me but me n Capt'n Morgan Spiced! As always the world looks better when spiced.

Chipping away at the 'to do' list. Installed the wind screen glass tonight, along with the sun visors and wipers.

My, my, look what arrived at the yard today! The donor for 'Locost 7 the 3rd'. More to come this fall.

Hmmmmm, that hood scoop hints that maybe this isn't just your ordinary little Chevy S10. Maybe it's one with a factory H.O. 4.3L V6? The suspension looks lowered, maybe the SS or Xtreme version?

Cheers,

Definetly lowered, but I do not think it is a factory HO 4.3 V6. The factory put a horizontal shock on the right and side of the axle, on all the HO, for anti-tramp. We are all hoping for poping the hood and seeing a V8 kit  Dave W

Sheese, Perry, you really are a glutton for punishment!!! I'm kinda glad you're building another one, because that means I can look at more of your work and see how things ought to be done. But what are ya gonna DO with three of the l'il buggers runnin' around the yard???

Good luck with the new one!

LOL! I wish, it's a 2.2L I'm told with manual trans. I haven't looked at it yet, not til winter. I do know it was running when it rolled, had a fiberglass step side that blew apart in the roll over. Purchase price - $1, Locost #3 - priceless.

Gonzo - I have 4 grand kids, each one will inherit a car their old geedo (grandpa) built, that's my legacy. Hopefully there are no more grand kids planned or I might run out of time!

Now back to building! Chipping away at small jobs. Today I fabbed the wind shield side wings and installed them. They're pretty hard to see when there's no bug guts on them. Lots of pics, not much progress.

Waiting for my seats and some chrome mirror vinyl.

Starting to think about applying for a VIN and making this a legal automobile.

Today the VIN Examiner stopped by and nailed a VIN plate to the frame. The 'LSO' is now a legal vehicle. Once I get the seats back from the upholsterer and get the nose painted, I can get the Out of Province Inspection done, then I can get plates. Also have to get an appraisal done for the insurance company.

Ready for the road, huh? Man, that was fast, Perry.

FWIW, I told my wife about your making a car for each grandchild and she though that was totally cool and very exceptional.

Cheers,

Yes! Both TWWTFM and I think that is a very cool thing. You're a good man, Perry.

Lonnie and Gonzo thanks for the kind words. It will be a while before they get behind the wheel, they're 5, 4, 3, & 2 years old.

While I'm waiting for the seats to be completed (I had all winter to get these done, but no I wait til the very end of the build :BH: ) and for my son to shoot some paint on the nose, I've been busy demolishing our 624 sq/ft deck to the ground and totally rebuilding it.

Emailed the insurance company with pics and VIN and now I have $10,000 on the L.S.O. til I get it appraised.

You may notice in the last pic that the airplane hangar is now empty, C-IDOV has been sold. I had concrete poured a couple of weeks ago and will be putting up a wall with and garage door and man door. This will be a stable for the 7's.

Thanks Mike, looking forward to meeting you also.

My son came buy tonight and threw some paint on the nose. I put up a temporary paint booth in the shop. I figure I got a pretty good deal, professional auto painter did this for a meal and wifey made the meal, I just supervised the whole evening.

Also picked up the seats from the upholsterer. Will start putting it all together next week.
