Thanks Justin, the beer thing might just work now that I don't have a rolling money pit in the garage. The car has only cost me about $6000.00.

Bob, I think you are right. I need more space!!!!

John, Thank you. I talked to Hagerty and they said they don't do homemade replicas. I was looking at ther web site at the time that said they did??????.

Way to go Larry!!!!!

To which inspection lane did you go? I got my VIN at inspection time in Marysville. That was a lot closer for me.

I'll chime in with John. Check with both Hagerty and Grundy. I had some difficulty with main stream insurers because it wasn't a kit.

And now that you have it down pat, how about some more photos?

Thanks Larry,
I'm still waiting to hear about ins. I talked to Hagerty and they said they wouldn't because it's homemade (????). I called Grundy and after about 10 minutes on hold they hung up (????).

I don't really know where to start, so here goes. I got my nose from Jack back in Feb. and with the weather helping out, I was able to put it togather. I read your account Larry and that helped a lot. Here are spme pictures.

Hi Larry,
I also took mine to the Marysville station. It took about an hour with no problems at all. They really seemed to know what they were doing, and the lady there was very friendly.

I thought she was very nice too. I asked about paying them and she replied just give her a Master Card or a Nordstrom's card and every thing would be OK.

I don't recall ever talking to anyone at Grundy. Just applied online, I think. Could be wrong. Short term memory is a thing of the past.

Anywho I am insured by Grundy for an agreed value of $16,000 and the premium is less than $150 per year. They do have some restrictions on usage but I won't use it as a daily driver anyway so I'mOK with that.

Now I just have to get it to lessen it's appetite for spark plugs.

Would like to see you and your build at a SLAG gathering in the n ear future. Not sure the weather is going to co-operate though.

Hmmm. That surprises me. Hagerty insures mine and many others here from what I understand. Did you mention that it is a replica of a Lotus Seven? If they still give you a hassle, you might also mention it is based on a published book design. They worked with me a lot because I had no VIN number for the policy application. I needed to apply for Title to apply for a VIN. I needed insurance policy number to apply for the title. It was a "Catch 22" scenario. It all worked out in the end. I would be surprised if Hagerty will not eventually see the light.

Hi Chuck,
I called Hagerty again yesterday and talked to a different person, they didn't think there should be a problem, so I filled out an application and faxed it to them. I just found out one of the sheets didn't get faxed, so I guess one more fax.

Here are a couple of picture of my dash, the original wood veneer, that I couldn't get the cover off of and the red fake leather, that worked great.
