That's a nice looking car, too bad about the silly Quebec rules though. I thought the motor vehicle act was supposed to be the same all across Canada. Things are much simpler here in BC. Congrats on finishing the car and getting through the process though.

There is Transport Canada legislation/regulation governing manufacturing standards, but the provinces have motor vehicle legislation/regulation involving operation and condition of individual vehicles, and thus, home-builts. Nova Scotia, like Quebec, has provincial regulations identifying bumper requirements and so the vehicle inspectors require them. From posts I've seen it looks like Manitoba does too, although with considerably less stringency.

Hi all,

It has been a very long while since my last post. I very happy to report that after a great collaboration with the registration organisation in Québec, I got my car registered and it is now 100% legal on the road. Here are some pictures of the car done.

Salut Tohan

Hi Guys,

Warren you are right, Procinces have their own regulation about the process to register an ''artisanal'' car.

Ewhen, thanks for your comments, the car has been registered as an Artis Lotus car.

Have a nice evening,

Lotus Artis ? Great
So there are two of us
except that I cannot drive
anymore and so from now on
it will be your job explaining
to potential Locost builders
how it should be done in
Quebec.

Bob Bevins cut nice lotus
letters on his cnc, so now
thanks to him the blactop
looks more like Lotus than
Artis

Hi Yohan,

first of all, i love your build log, very nice finished product!

I wanted to pick your brains about building a Quebec Street-Legal locost. I have much less ambitious goals than yours, however the whole SAAQ engineering certification has me very worried about even starting the project.

I have read through the artisanal car "brochure" on their website:

https://saaq.gouv.qc.ca/fileadmin/docum ... sanale.pdf

do you see any thing that i should anticipate early in the build, or plan in accordance to? I mean other than having the following:
-windshield
-wipers
-covered exhaust
-front bumper
-common sense with basic safety equipment (brakes, suspension, pedals, controls, ...)

Also what do the engineer's report entails?

thank you for your time!

Hi all!!

It has been a very long while since my last post! I used the car quite a bit in the last 3 years and learned a lot about its behavior!! I will post some pictures as I changed the wheels and added a nylon top.

Just found your build log. Great car! Where did you get your front fenders?

Magoins,

Funny as I was asking myself the same question last weekend. Let me check and come back!
