Looks like crystal ball gazing may be in your future :D
I stick to fortune cookies myself. May your Al1 eat lot's of lice.
(I can say that. I have a Chinese daughter, with a Bavarian last name.)

All I can say is that you'll always have to wear gloves in the summer. That ball will get so hot it will take a layer of skin off your hand.

I never had a problem with a chrome ball getting hot before.

If it get's too hot I've got a wood ball or a leather covered pistol grip I can put in it's place.

I had to remove my heavy chrome ball out of my vert cause I couldn't even touch it during the summer. I kept a ball cap in the car to cover it with, but winds and people would remove it.

BTW the heavy ball made shifting smoother so I really liked the weight, but literal blisters on the palm were too much.

So to recap. If you play with your chrome ball in the summer you'll get blisters on the palm, but you won't go blind, that's an old wives tale.

I'll keep that in mind. Will I get hair on my palms though?

piddled a little more today

I did things out of order today, started on one project, then got distracted, then back, almost happy with it, blah blah blah, you guys know how it goes.

So...
Headers back on. There's no way that I'll get the side panel back in place as a single piece.

Then piddle with the clutch, on and off, on and off. It started as a bike hand brake and a bit of aluminum.

I still need to take it back off, put some curve in it and weld on a foot pad.

Then the brake pedal and a new set of Afco master cylinders.

Trying to decide what to do on the R1 project this weekend. Too many possibilities

Here's the repeat of the short list I created in November with status updates

Pull engine & Trans - Done
Pull rear axle, linkages and springs - Done
Pull front suspension and steering - Done
Pull the few aluminum exterior panels - Done
SAND BLAST FRAME - sorta done
remove most weld spatter - sorta done
paint frame - Done
CELEBRATE - Oh yeah really done
re-install suspension and replace all mount hardware - Done
re-install engine / trans - Done
shorten and clean up electrical engine control harness
TEST FIRE AND CELEBRATE
build drive shafts - Front built
build shifter linkage - Done
brake lines
fuel lines
FIRST DRIVE
install lighting harness
fit outer skin - Started - roughed sides and tail
paint glass parts - Color on, 1/2 through clear coats and polishing
install lights and gauges

CELEBRATE

Lots more needs to be added to the list
I'd like to take her for a lap around the neighborhood in late April / Early May

Wiring AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
:BH:
:BH:
:BH:
:BH:
:BH:
:BH:
:BH:

The wiring needed "a little cleaning up"

Basically I've cut off every tie wrap, every heat shrink, removed every switch, unplugged every terminal end from it's mate, and spent

ALL FREAKIN DAY untangling the rats nest.

Got it mostly sorted and almost ready to re-install, shorten, solder, and bundle into something that makes sense and doesn't let the Genie out.

Wiring :BH: :BH: :BH: :BH: :BH:

Yes I did the same thing last year. Stripped the harness of all unnecessary stuff and it's still taking me days if not weeks to get things sorted.

I think you're right. I'm taking this weekend away from the garage. Wifey Dearest and I are headed to Omaha to visit baby girl. She's a little less than 1/2 way through her internship at ConAgra Foods so a fun weekend is on order... maybe even a St Paddy's day family pub crawl on Monday.

I hope the beer's for celebrating afterwards because it might interfere with your critical thinking skills.

It is indeed. Also have a bunch of little paper tags and a pen for labeling traced wires.

I'd love to hear this beast roar this weekend, just don't know if that's a reasonable expectation.
