I finally took the plunge so I could start asking people here questions specific to my build. I've been lurking for a couple of months and found this forum extremely helpfull. Thanks to all the people who awnser the questions!

My build is a +442E, 1990 Mustang LX 5.0 donor. 1.25 tubing everywhere but the tranny tunnel which is 3/4". Currently building the tunnel and working on motor mounts.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the pics right, we'll see!

Where are you located? Want a low mileage KG disk front for your Meyers?? We should talk about things, prticularly EDIS.

Do the tranny tunnel, or at least loops around the driveshaft in 1" and you'll be SCCA mod legal.

Contrary to the book's placment, place the vertical tubes of the tranny tunnel such that they act as driveshaft loops.

Triangulate the tranny tunnel (it works for Caterham....).

Looks nice!

The tunnel is almost done, and there is a lot of tirangulation. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, once I figure out how.

Thanks for moving my post JOsh.

Here is a pic of the partially completed tunnel, still working on the bellhousing area to maximize pedal area and triangulation.

Recieved my +4 nose cone from COLD. Looks good, but I might modify it to tone down the lip on the bottom and sides.... don't care for the slight flair on those edges. COLD was good to do business with though. Got the package here pretty quick considering I ordered during the holidays. The plan is to replace it with an aluminum nose down the road.

Still learning to post pictures, so hopefully I've made it work this time.

Any body building a Locost in Central California?

Rigged the frame to test fit the engine and weld in the motor mounts. There's quite a bit of room to work with.

Looks like with a custom manifold it will fit with no hood bulge. Nice fit.

Really diggin' how your engine is sitting in the chassis. Looks like it was meant to be or something.

I'll second that. Way to go man, that looks great. You're going to make me regret my Miata engine. :)

Here is what I'm doing with a 351. The TB will be pointed at the firewall. How are you planning on doing the EDIS?

Locostv8,
I've got manx parts comming out of my ears.. thanx though. I'm located in Visalia, Ca between Fresno and Bakersfeild. I've been wanting to talk to you about Ford stuff, I'm more of a Chevy guy trying to get up to speed.

The motor is 1990 5.0 out of an Lx. The edis composes of a balancer from a Ford Explorer with the ring on the balancer, Explorer timing cover, crank sensor, cam sensor (not hooked up) controlled by Megasquirt. The intake will be one of 2 setups, modified stock lower manifold with a custom super low profile upper with a single throttle to the passenger side or a victor jr fi manifold w/ a homemade manifold adapter like the one in your post. If I could afford it, a low profile 4 barrel throttle body directly on the victor jr with a shaker hood would be nice, should fit perfect. We were thinking the same thing!

Do you know if there is a lower profile speed sensor or a way to get the speedo cable directly to the tranny?

Chetcpo,
"the buggy thingy" it's training for the wind buffeting in the Locost!!!
Love that car, a lot of fun. I try to drive it every chance I get. I grew up starring at the body hanging in my Dad's garage for 30+ years. He never put the thing together. Oringinal Myers Manx, oringinal gel coat. Finally talk him out of it a couple of years ago and put it together.

I might be asking you some questions when I get to the front geometry.

Mr. peabody.d,

Do you guys have any get togethers, I would love to see your cars in person.
If you pass through the valley stop in Visalia I'll buy you a good beer. My brother and I own a restaurant and brewery here.

SkinnyG,

Where exactly should the driveshaft loop be on the driveshaft, don't plan to race it, but who knows in the future, wouldn't be hard to put it in now.

Thanks for your comments everybody!
I'm going to have a lot of questions on the little things.

For the Edis you will need an EDIS8 controller off a 4.6 to do it with Megasquird. This Url discusses the process http://forums.corner-carvers.com/showth ... light=edis The other possibility is to use the Explorer harness and EEC computer which controls the EFI & EDIS. In my case I'm using the whole wiring harness, minus circuits not needed, from a 92 GT as well as a Mustang tilt column and the instrument cluster/housing to provide all the switches in a convenient location. I had considered MS but the EEC already works great and why reinvent. My setup is a hurricane (Victor airgap with injector bungs) that I picked up off Ebay for 150 (couldn't do the mods for that), A 5.4 Lightning upper plenum for $25 though there is a upper plenum that bolts on from Sullivan 300, and a Cobra Terminator throttlebody 50. There is an elbow for the Explorer that would allow you to turn the TB.

usa7s.com http://www.usa7s.com/forum/default.asp is having a big gathering 7/7/7 to celebrate the 50th year for the 7 and I believe have a number of Cali members.

Where did you get the nose? I am new here and still reading a lot. Let me know you max radiator dimensions and I'll tell you what oem radiators can fit unless your going with a custom aftermarket unit. I have 12 meg of oem radiator applications with dimensions.

I have a Sears knock-off which is nearly identical to your Manx except for the raised hood emblem. Mine has the spare tire and battery wells under the rear seat. I have collected a '67 chassis with a 1974 1700 dual carb type IV from a bus and wide five all around. I have new side coves to be adapted from a new buggy mfg. Just another project waiting on me.
