Nice exhaust on your little donor there. Is that forged in halves and welded up or something?

On the kart? I believe you are right at least that's how it looks.

It is difficult to stay motivated when you get lots of 'life interruptions" as you have lately. Just try to keep focused on the ultimate goal and not quit. You're further along than you might realize.

One thing I do is seek out cool videos about Locosts, or Lotus 7s, or Caterhams on the Internet and YouTube. It gets me rev'ed up again and wanting to finish. The fact that it bothers you not to be working on your car is actually a strong sign of your commitment to the project.

Cheers,

Being close to Mnot and Botbasher helps, both of them are pretty close to being finished. I just need to find time to get to working on mine. Selling the Miata will pretty much pay for all the big items I need to finish her.

There is a video on Youtube of someone hydroforming with a pressure washer. He used that method to make an expansion chamber similar to the one on the cart.

Briggs, when you say "plug and play", does it plug in to the welder, and turn on with the machine? If it doesn't, you should see if you can figure out a way to make it so. If I had a nickle for HW-12 torch we burned out over the years... :BH: before we finally made it come on constantly with the Miller Synchrowave 300.

Both the welding lead and the gas line plug in to the welder. I'm not sure what you mean by turns on with the welder.

With the water cooled torch, the pump is usually 110v. Some machines have a 110v plug to plug the pump into, and the pump comes on when you turn the machine on. If that is not the case, and you forget to turn the pump on, well you know, bad things happen...and you get to buy yet ANOTHER torch... :ack:

Oh ok. I see what you mean now. These are completely seperate from the welder so there will be 2 seperate switches.

Another thought on searching for a tig welder is to watch craigslist. I picked up a Lincoln Square wave 275 tig for $1200. It came with a pulsing attachment, an air cooled torch, water cooled torch (no chiller) and an assortment of cups, rod, tungsten etc. It was a screaming good deal. I've seen another similar deal come and go, as one tig welder is enough for me. As another note, it took me about 6 months to see that deal and it was spoken for in a matter of hours being listed, so you need to be able to jump.

@Briggs

Thank you, gentlemen. It looks super good, but almost too good to be true, if you know what I mean. I'm glad to get verification that it is a "for real" unit. Now, it's just, "come on big discount Christmas sales."

Cheers,

Bought another wagon. This will be the 8Eight Fab shop car. It's about to get a full turbo back exhaust along with some other goodies.

No it's the auto. I didn't want a manual after hearing the transmissions have been known to fail on stock power.

For now. I'm going to fix all the little things wrong with it and list it. Hopefully I can get 7k for it.
