Chris, You can swap plug 1 with 2 now to see if it is a spark plug issue.

I would be surprised if the CPS is causing #1 not to fire.

Have you checked to see if you can spark #1 plug removed and laying against the block?

Could also be the plug wires, or is your engine COP? if COP, make sure you have a trigger signal to the coil.

I did swap plugs 1 and 2 no change. I used a spare plug out of my parts bin on all 4 cylinders on Sunday and they were all firing, but I have no idea what the gap was on that plug. I have checked gap on all the spark plugs in the engine and they are good. Plug wires are brand new.

Not COP, stock na Miata coil packs.

If new plugs and CPS don't fix it, I will do a compression check.

Hi Chris- for the brake flex lines, I see you are using stainless steel braided. Were you able to use the original Miata lengths??

Car looks great!!

No I did not even try to use stock Miata length hoses. Once I had the control arms built I measured for the hoses and spec'd them out through summit racing. I am using the exact same hose for all four corners and the clutch line. If I ever have to replace one or if I ever start to track the car and want to carry a spare with me, I only have one hose to worry about.

So I pulled the injectors out and cleaned them. Installed new plugs and now it runs and idles very well. I still don't have the new cps but it is coming in tonight. I will go ahead and install it as the one I have is still bad. I do not have any CEL codes. I will post a video tonight. It sounds much better. I was getting a bunch of smoke out the exhaust but I think it was still clearing it's throat from not running right. After a few minutes of running the smoke wentry away. Hopefully I don't have a bad valve seal and am getting oil past it.

So I have pulling the control arms so I can fully weld them in prep for a first drive now that the engine runs and for sone reason the axle nut on the drivers side axle didn't want to come off and to get it off ruined the threads on the axle. It is odd as I have had the axle nuts on and off multiple times and I have always just hand tightened them. The other side came off easy as could be as expected. Fortunately I found one at a salvage yard an hour away for $50. Unfortunately it is labor day and they are closed.

Well the junk yard that had the axle couldn't get it out of the spindle so I am back to looking for an axle. I also found out I need a passenger rear caliper. The piston is frozen solid inside the caliper with rust. Axle is $90 through Advance auto and caliper is $80 plus core. I found an axle for $40 and caliper for $20 Highland but it is 3 hours away or I found both in southern Illinois for $50. He can deliver at no cost if I am willing to wait until late October when he is coming to the area.

Now is not a good time of year for me to be spending much on the Seven. The mrs's daily driver needs brakes and tires and we are starting to purchase the kids Christmas gifts so if I am going to get parts anytime soon I need to make sure it is a good deal to justify the spend now vs waiting.

rockauto.com has the parts you need pretty cheap. you can find a coupon for a few % off which basically covers shipping +/-. And you don't have to drive for hours out of your weekend to get the parts, which means more time to work on the seven :)

I have checked rockauto.com and with the costs of shipping and core charges it isn't much cheaper than advance. Still looking for used in the area and have a few leads.

Are you sure you can't clean up the threads on the old part?

Finally found an axle locally for $25. It needs cleaned up as there is a little rust on the splines and threads but it is usaable. Also have a new axle nut on order. I still need to replace one of the calipers but I found one that I can get for $15 of I can wait till late oct. I think I can. I just wanted to get the car moving by the end of Sept and k don't need the caliper for that.

Big day....I took the seven for the first drive around the driveway. I still don't have shocks so I couldn't go very far or fast but I couldnt resist a spin around the driveway. I also really need to do some kind of alignment.

First Drive Video

I still don't have shocks or an alignment which is why the car plows through the rocks. The lightweight flywheel will take some getting used to but I think I will like it.
