I got an alignment, sort of, today. The guy at my local Firestone is an older gent that is a car guy. The people in front were going to turn me away and then said, "well talk to Todd and see what he says". So, I did. His response "are you the guy that drove up in the Caterham?" After a fun discussion he was thrilled to help me out and give me some base line numbers. I wasn't too bad but I had a ton of toe in which made it skittish. I need to fix the rest but he adjust the toe and it was much more stable driving home. funny thing is, the girl that was going to turn me away, asked for a ride after the alignment  She was very nice and I obliged with a quick jaunt. She was very complimentary and I thing really enjoyed it. Specs: Left - Right Caster 4.1 - 4.2 front camber 3.2 - 1.2 rear toe 1/8 - -1/16 rear camber 2.3 - 1.3 |

So, perhaps you made one conversion (the lady) and one possible (Todd, the older gent [it hurts to hear that now]) conversion in getting your alignment? I don't think we've had a lady builder here yet, have we? It's probably about time though. Cheers, |

I worked on the alignment settings last night and the rear went beautifully. I will start with ~1.5* neg camber and 0 toe. The fronts were a different animal. I had a feeling it wouldn't be easy but I was not able to achieve the settings I wanted which is roughly 2.0* neg camber, 0 toe, and 4-6* of caster. So, I started making new UCA's. This is the new UCA design. I basically stole the circle track design and added a threaded tie rod end (same one I was using in the old ones from an F350). The rear rod with clevis is adjustable with a LH rod end for quick easy adjustment. In this picture, the wheel is at ~3.5* neg camber. The new UCA's were the ticket! I got a complete alignment yesterday and it was really easy to adjust. Turning the adjuster does affect caster slightly but mostly it affects camber which is the goal. Adjusting the rear is really a good experiment. I discovered that an entire turn of the lower adjusters yields 1/8" of change and a half turn yields 1/16" (I used 5/8-18 bolts). This allowed me to get the alignment right on the money. My current numbers are: Front: -2.0* camber; 5* caster; 0.0 toe Rear: -1.8* camber; 0.0 toe The wind deflector made a noticeable difference on the road. There is still a lot of wind but it was mostly above my eyes and my hair blew backwards instead of forward like in my LBC's. Overall, I am happy with it. |

Now that I have driven the 7 a few miles, I realized that the flat smooth floor in front of the pedals causes some fatigue because there is nowhere to rest my right heal when on the throttle. What are you guys doing to provide a rest for your right heal? Attachment: IMG_3176x.jpg

I've used horse stall mat but it is still too thick at 1/2 inch. I'd use a couple of these and have enough to line the boot also. Trim to fit with a friction disc to prevent unraveling.
