Worked on some pieces, fuel tank mounts, scuttle and shocks. Perry suggested I contact Dennis Brunton, we chatted back and forth a few times, fantastic guy to deal with. I used his chart (online) to customize the shocks. In the end decided to go with GAZ shocks, 450# front springs, 200# in the rear, there will be some track event I want to take part in, mostly around town. Currently working on mounting the rear shocks, I'll post a few pics when completed. I'm happy with the quality of the shocks, they look good.
Started on the scuttle as well, it's held on by using riv-nuts. I like the idea of having a service friendly unit, 1 or 2 main plugs for everything.

Wow, appears haven't updated my build log in a while. After a visit (w/blownmiata91) to Perry's Locost 7 factory, he gave me some pointers/clarification on front suspension setup. In a matter of minutes, he built a mockup of my suspension and everything became clear, it was a great visit. :D Thanks again Perry!!
Then last weekend, blownmiata91 invited me out to visit another guy who's also building a 7, he's been building for a while but almost done, some wiring and inspections and he's on the road. Gives me alot of motivation to keep plugging away on mine. Awesome to see there's several guys around the Edmonton area. I'll post some pics when there are some that are worth sharing.

Hey Mike my reward is when we'll be able to cruise ending up at Tim's for an Ice Cap.
(If we were in the States we'd be ending up at Dunkin Donuts for a Frozen Mocha Coffee Coolatta) same same cept up North here our don't melt so fast!

Keep posting pics, else Gonzo gonna harp on me for not keeping up on all the build logs.

Add a vent tube in the upper corner with a tiny bulkhead fitting and the wasted tank space will serve as expansion space to prevent fuel from coming out the vent after filling up.

Consider rubber mounting the radiator to prevent cracking. Fit 1/2" id grommets to the frame and cut bolt spacers from 1/2" tubing to allow you to tighten the bolts properly without loosing the usefulness of the grommet, or mount the radiator with pins through grommets secured with a washer and drilled for a standard or reusable/spring cotter pin.

Hello, it's update time! Thank you for heads up Miatav8,MstrASE,A&P,F, I'll make sure to keep that in mind. Made some progress over the summer, time to catch you guys up... finished the Version 2.0 upper control arms. I wasn't happy with the way they looked, so decided to rebuild and upgrade. Here's a couple of pics...

Started on the scuttle a while back, it's been on hold for a bit, but here's a couple if pics. With the help of a plasma cutter, it made things alot easier. The firewall is 14 gauge, heavy enough to bolt a heater box etc. It'll be the home for the ECM, nice and dry. The scuttle still needs some attention, but it gives me the lines of the car.

A picture of the car & my girls. The car has been sat in 100's of times already, can't wait to take them for a ride!

Exhaust, something I was looking forward to, never done any exhaust work other than remove and replace. Decided to buy a box of bends (1.5") from Summit racing. It arrived in a giant box, took it to the garage and this is what I ended up with, pile of bends, that's where doubt set in... anyway mocked up a couple setups, using gearclamps to hold it all together. There will be exhaust wrap from the header to the collector, to hide the ugly welds, obviously. Isn't that what it's for?

Since the OEM intake from the AE86 is gigantic and way too tall to clear the 7's hood/bonnet, it was high time to create a custom intake. Like the exhaust, I've never designed anything like it. After some reading, a page was taken out of Mr.Wellwood's book and loosely followed what he did. Made a flange that will mate to the cylinder head, cut holes to exactly match the intake ports in the head. Used 2" exhaust pipe and made them fit into the flange.
Next up was the intake body, took 3' pipe and cut it in 1/2. The lines match the frame of the car, thought it looked good. Filled in the rest using sheet metal and made sure of proper welds. AKA no leaks. Made a location for the cold start injector, plus vacuum port for fuel pressure regulator etc. The air filter will be close to the fire wall, it'll be sealed and have it's own intake via louvers in the hood. Utilizing the rice rocket intake the car came with, think it turned out pretty good. :D Let me know what you think...

Nice build...lots and lots of similarities to my car. I do need to make up a remote shifter like you have. Right now, I have an extension which lives in the tunnel but the motion is really long and weird.
Yet another winter project...
What ECU do you plan to use with that motor?

Wow, it's all looking really, really good. Don't take so long between updates. We need out "Locost pseudo-porn" photos [LOL].

It won't be long before we see that start-up video.

Cheers,

Mike
That intake looks great
If you find that you need more low end torque from the 4AGE without the stock TVIS system, try running 3 to 4* intake cam advance. It will make a noticable improvement.
