Nice work. Admittedly, I'm an amateur welder, but 95% of those welds look OK to me. I see one or two that look like they were on the "cold" side, but I don't think you have to be embarrassed by them. Like you implied in you post, if you're unsure grind them back and re-weld.

Cheers,

Thanks Lonnie! A lot of these bad ones were done when the chassis was on the table. Now that I can spin it around on the rotisserie it is WAY easier to weld.

Hi All! It has been a while since I last posted, but have been able to make some progress! I actually took it on a quick test drive last week!

Nice job! You've got enough instrumentation to go to the moon. It sounds great too.

Looks good.

A few things on there you don't typically see in a locost, rear exit exhaust for one.

Are those Wilwood residual pressure valves I see? Have they failed yet? Haven't been impressed with mine and I haven't even gotten it on the road yet.

Thanks! I didn't want the exhaust right in my ear and think a V8 sounds better pointed directly out the back. So far these valves are working for me. If I have any problems with them I will let the group know. Thnaks for the head up!

Thanks so much! Yeah... the dash is a bit busy, but I am an information freak and really like to know what's going on!

Good job!
Are the tailpipes installed traditionally with them going over the diff tubes or are they under the tubes?

Hi! I have 2.5" exhaust and almost no room around the axle with the fuel tank being stretched across , so I did what a lot of the OEM constructors do (including Caterham) and ran the tailpipes snugged up close to the frame rails. The ground clearance isn't too bad; I guess as close at the bellhousing. Lets see how hot they get and perhaps I will insulate them here. When I finally get it mapped on a dyno, this will be the worst case scenario in regards to heat (WOT and no car movement!) so let see how much of the frame rail paint gets toasted!

Oh? Your LS isn't enough for you as-is? I am super curious what mine will dyno at. I am realistically hopeful for >350HP at the wheels. Theoretically it is capable 425-450 at the crank....or so my engine guy says!

No need to rub it in. Not everyone can handle 5.0 power at the start. :D
