I've thrown all my receipts into a box, and I'm going to add things up at the end and see what it turns out to be.

How did Cars and Coffee go? I didn't see your post until Saturday night. If I had seen it in time, I definitely would have came out for a bit...I live like 5 minutes from there. I saw some pictures of the car from some people who were there. Looking good!

I did not add it up until i was almost done as I did not want to know until it was too late. :) it was the first time I went to coffee and cars -- wow some nice stuff. I would love one of those Venom GT but I do not have $600K. I live only one block from Marq-e so i hope it stays there.

Appreciate your build cost list. This will make it easier for anyone following. Your listt confirmed many sources that i am using on a revision of mine that took a while to find for my CMC frame miata car. The revision components at full retail would be 9K, you did great. Your cars picture was posted over at USA7's ! Congradulations on your build.

One of my front fender mounts broke this weekend. I had made the upper mount more rigid and it seems to be working. I had planned to reinforce the lower mount by milling the bottom of the caliper mount, drilling and tapping for a bolt and adding another attachment point to the lower mount (currently it was only attached to a plate in place of the old brake disk shield). I saw the movement before the fender came loose and removed it, so the fender and paint are still good. And the weather was in the mid 70s this weekend so I was ready put some time in behind the wheel.

How many miles before it failed?

the top mount failed after 20 miles, the bottom failed at about 700 miles

refabbed the front lower fender mounts and reinstalled. Now one of the top mounts failed after 150 more miles and a 110MPH run. :)

these things are starting to be a pain in the a$%.

Another option is to use one of the current mounting holes in your spindle bracket and just use longer hardware, Vs having to take everything apart to mill/drill/tap. I use 5/8" dia tube for the main supports, but it is .100" wall. I now have over 15,000 miles without any problems with just a two point attachment system for each fender.

the miata spindle does not have as many attachment points as your. on the back side just the 2 brake mount bolts and on the disc side 3 dust sheild bolt. I made a plate the takes the place of the dust sheild to mount the ends of the supports. the first mod was to the upper mount to pickup the upper ball joint and to stiffen the end at the fender. the latest mod was to tap the the bottom of the brake caliper mount and and add a support to the lower mount. the lastest failure was (I think) just a bad weld to where I stiffened the upper mount (so no design change this tome just reweld, paint and reinstall.

William - I am a future builder and noticed that you are in Houston. I am too and was wondering if I could see your build sometime. No rush since I wont be getting started for a while (probably years).
