That's an interesting dyno situation. I'm wondering why the front wheels turn while the test is running?

The stance of your Locost from the rear is really pleasing to the eye. Congratulations on taking the next step with the dyno test. Can you legally drive it on the public roads now?

Cheers,

Hey, Lonnie.
The front wheels are spinning because at the very beginning the operator of the stand synchronized the stand and the machine, in the following dimensions they did not spin anymore.
And to my great regret, I can not go until now legally.

Lonnie, I know nothing about dyno's. I wonder if a modern dyno designed for general use might have to turn the free-wheeling wheels to prevent some stability control/ABS cars from interfering. I don't know one way or the other. I'm just speculating. MAybe someone more knowledgeable might chime in? Computer controlled cars can be funny!

@rx7locost

Here's my thinking, Chuck. The Locost is rear wheel drive. It takes energy to make its front wheels turn, obviously. So, the energy came from somewhere. Could it be misdirected energy mistakenly bled off from the rear wheels, which might make it look like the horsepower for the engine is lower than it actually is?

Since some modern cars are all wheel drive, that dyno makes perfect sense in today's world. As was stated, the dyno was reconfigured in some way for later tests. Perhaps it was to correct that very situation?

Cheers,

Good day to all. Last week I managed to ride on the playground. The first 2 hours I was engaged in car weighing. Due to inexperience it was not possible to balance. Anyway. I missed you so much and just started skating. Got great pleasure. I got used to the car and understood what to work on. The biggest disadvantage to me was that I was not oriented, for example, in terms of time, speed, and effectiveness of brakes. Photos and videos below.

Hey, your Locost looks really fast. Congratulations! If mine ends up being that fast, I'll be thrilled to death.

It looks like you have plenty of sunshine and good weather left too. Your leaves are still turning, and haven't even all dropped off yet. Poor Perry in Alberta, Canada has had snow already. What do you have left to do to make it a legal road car? Do you have time left to make it legal before winter sets in?

Cheers,

Hey! I resemble that statement! Just for info, that snow slowed down the mosquitoes and wasps, but the horseflies can dodge snow flakes and don't slow down til about 2 feet of snow.

Thank you Lonnie for the kind feedback.
Looks like it was the last warm week. Leaves almost all fell off. Now we have +10 during the day and -1 at night. But I still have a desire to go.
Plans very much. Basically, I want to make the hood and windshield, as well as align and paint all the plastic parts. Secondarily, I want to make the 3rd engine mount. Well, I would like to raise the power of the engine yet.

Now I changed the pistons in the coilovers. And then the Chinese were very tough. Here I will test.

By the way about the windshield. I made a couple of brackets and bought a monolithic polycarbonate with a thickness of 5mm.

And now I think how to make a frame. I also like these visor, but given the ruble exchange rate, the final delivery price is expensive. http://www.kitcardirect.co.uk/mk-indy/m ... n-grp.html Maybe there are cheaper options?

Congratulations on how well built it is .
120 is pretty good from this engine .
Apart from the throttle bodies, did you do anything special to the head ?
I've got one of those engines and a ford one thats begging for a supercharger and I'm still wondering which one to use .

PS Respect for the damper rebuild

Yes Niko cylinder head is also tuned. I increased the diameter of the intake and exhaust channels. Established bronze guides. As well as lightweight valves, spring plates made of new aluminum, lightweight rocker arms of valves. As well as wide-camshaft. 310 degrees at the inlet and 300 degrees at the release, overlapping valves 2.4mm.

For tyunig coilovers ordered a new main piston with enlarged bore holes on the rebound, as well as a new return piston and PTFE sealing rings. Made everything on a CNC machine.

Do you have some nice roads nearby where you can have fun driving, or is this car only for shows and the race track?

Yes there are good roads. And I really want to ride there, but the car at the moment does not have any documents. And therefore, any trip on them is a violation of the law. What threatens big problems. Therefore, I still ride in indoor areas. In principle, I made the car for myself, I wanted to realize my engineering potential. And also I want to go on weekends. be it a country track or a racing track.

Good luck!

I'd be interested in what it takes you to get your car legal to operate on public roads.

Are there any car clubs or collectors in your area who might have done this already? And are your local vehicle regulations online? One thing that seems to be common worldwide, is that the people at the counters usually just say "no" to anything they haven't encountered before, rather than taking the time to ask a supervisor or look it up for themselves.

I will answer your question. For the receipt of documents and subsequent registration (obtaining license plates) I need. First of all, it is necessary to undergo an examination at the Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automobile Institute “NAMI”. The nearest representation of the institute from me is found in 4000km. Secondly, with these documents further in the Rostekhnadzor. Third, you can go to get license plates and fasten them to the car.

And so finally I managed to get all the shock absorbers to work. The machine immediately began to be controlled. This I was able to try on a country road. Very interesting and pleasant sensations. It is much better than in a closed area. Many turns and straight sections. Now I felt that everything was not in vain !!!
