I am in the process of starting my build.

I currently have a Ford Focus I build a few years ago with a turbo 5.3. Due to NC inspection laws with the car being a 2003 I cannot get it inspected each year. Plus I have alway wanted a lotus 7.

I have decided to use all the running gear and electronics off the focus and use them in a locost build.

I am trying to figure out how to widen the engine bay approx. 3 inches and lengthening it approx. 2 inches without changing the shape too much. I will be using the kinetic nose.

Using the 8.8 out of the focus with a 4 link.

I am ordering the tubing later this week. Probably 1.25inch.

I know this car will be blasphemy, overpowered and not anything close to a pure lotus seven but don't bash me too hard. haha

Here are some pics of the focus in its current state.

Check out Yohan's build, he did an LS with a T56. I am personally doing a 5.7 SBC with a Super T-10 and C4 Corvette suspension. Plenty of room. With a 442e chassis, you really should not need to widen or lengthen the chassis.

My issue is I really want to keep the turbo system from the focus intact, minus the downpipe. I built those turbo manifolds a few years ago and I really dont want to change them too much. Plus I plan to keep the turbo out front. I may be able to tuck the engine farther into the cockpit to gain the clearances I need.

Speaking of C4s, I am currently building an 85 c4 with an ls3, and a super T-10.

Won't be as heavy as this. Does it handle as well as a traditional locost? No. Do I want it anyway. YES!

You might try selling it as-is since much of the country does not have inspections. It is usually only metro counties.

Now that's just downright sick! Now I feel inadequate....

Totally preposterous. I want one.

Topspeed, not everything has to make sense. Do it and I won't be the only one to follow your build.

The car is actually a kit build chassis (viento) with mods.
Here is a pic of the truck based viper uprights

A manual dodge dakota could be a single donor vehicle for everything but the v10/magnum/la/small block hemi.
Match the final drive ratio to the selected trans for a useful first and longer legs. The nsg370 and g238 six speeds and nv1500 very low "granny" first gears that make the 5 speeds a better choice.

Trans/spreads/ratios
R154 1.30 0.65 0.30 0.25 3.25 1.95 1.3 1 0.75 (supra trans, dodge ax15 bell)
NV3500 1.36 0.75 0.39 0.22 3.5 2.14 1.39 1 0.78 (close to r154 spec with the right diff ratio)
NV3500 1.36 0.75 0.39 0.27 3.5 2.14 1.39 1 0.73
AX15 1.50 0.89 0.44 0.21 3.83 2.33 1.44 1 0.79 (shown for comparison, first too low)
